This research aims to develop
Biology learning materials using compare and contrast learning model (CAC) with
educational comic to improve student’s reading interest and concept mastery.
This research used 4D development model that has been tired out on 30 students
of ten grade students SMAN 3 Surabaya with one
group pretest and posttest design. The learning materials that have been developed include : (a) syllabus, (b) lesson plan, (c) the
student’s work sheet, and (d) educational comic. Data of research were gotten
from validation, observation, test, questionnaire, and self-test. The result of
this research showed that (a) validation of learning materials were between valid
and extremely valid, (b) the teaching and learning activities ran w ell, (c) student’s
reading interest had increased 31% with good and very good categories , (d) student’s concept
mastery increased with N -gain 0,71 in high category, (e) educational comic legibility were easily understood (79%) , (f) student's
respond positively to learning that has been implemented (93% -100% ). B ased on the results of the analysis and discussion above,
can be concluded that the Biology learning materials with compare and contrast
(CAC) model based on educational comic were properly used to improved student’s
reading interest and concept mastery.

Penelitian
ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran Biologi model compare and contrast (CAC) berbasis
komik edukasi, yang layak untuk meningkatkan
minat baca dan pemahaman konsep siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan model
pengembangan 4D dan diujicobakan pada 30 siswa kelas X SMAN 3 Surabaya dengan
desain ujicoba one grup pretest and
posttest design. Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan meliputi: (a)
silabus, (b) RPP, (c) LKS, dan (d) komik edukasi. Data penelitian diperoleh
melalui metode validasi, observasi, tes, angket dan penilaian diri. Analisis
data secara kuantitatif-kualitatif
dengan hasil: (a) perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan berkatagori antara
valid
dan sangat valid, (b) kegiatan pembelajaran terlaksana dengan baik dan sangat
baik (c) minat baca siswa mengalami kenaikan 31% dengan katagori baik dan
sangat baik, (d) pemahaman konsep siswa meningkat
dengan N-gain 0,71 berkatagori tinggi,
(e) keterbacaan komik edukasi berkatagori mudah dipahami (79%), (f) siswa
memberikan respon positif terhadap pembelajaran yang telah dilaksanakan
(93%-100%). Berdasarkan hasil analisis dan pembahasan diatas, disimpulkan bahwa
perangkat pembelajaran biologi model compare
and contrast (CAC) berbasis komik edukasi yang dikembangkan layak untuk meningkatkan
minat baca dan pemahaman konsep siswa.
