This study aims to examine
and design a project-based learning
management model in an effort
to improve academic achievement of students in Vocational High Schools. The
background of this research is based on the challenges of education in the
Industrial Revolution 4.0 era, which demands mastery of 21st century skills
such as critical thinking, collaboration, and digital literacy.
In Indonesia, the implementation of PjBL in vocational schools still faces
various obstacles, ranging from limited infrastructure, teacher training, to
suboptimal school management. This study uses a
qualitative approach with a multi-site study design conducted at SMKN 1 Cerme
and SMKN 1 Duduksampeya. Data collection techniques include in-depth
interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies. Analysis
is carried out through single
and multi-site data analysis techniques.
The results of the study indicate that both
schools have implemented PjBL according to ideal managerial principles,
including planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating. SMKN 1 Cerme has
advantages in product diversity, infrastructure support, and more intensive
industrial cooperation. Meanwhile, SMKN 1 Duduksampeyan shows adaptive
potential despite limited resources. Both schools have succeeded in encouraging
active student involvement, increasing learning motivation, and strengthening
technical competence. This research
produces a comprehensive and contextual PjBL management model, which includes
planning based on industry and academic needs, collaborative resource
organization, active mentoring-based implementation, and data-based multi-
stage evaluation. This model is expected to be a strategic reference for other
vocational schools in implementing PjBL systematically and sustainably to
improve the quality and competitiveness of graduates in the world of work.
