ANALISIS KARAKTERISTIK BRIKET CAMPURAN CANGKANG KEMIRI DAN LIMBAH ROKOK
Analysis of Briquettes Mixture of Candlenut Shells and Cigarette Waste
Krisis energi global mendorong pencarian alternatif bahan bakar berkelanjutan.
The global energy crisis is driving the search for alternative sustainable fuels. Biomass, especially agricultural and forestry waste, has become a primary focus in renewable energy development. This research explores the potential of candlenut shell waste and cigarette waste as raw materials for briquette production. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of briquettes (calorific value, moisture content, ash content, volatile matter, fixed carbon content, and burning rate) made from candlenut shells and cigarette waste with the addition of tapioca starch as a binder. Variations in the briquette mixture using candlenut shell and cigarette waste materials employed compositions of (1:1; 3:1; 1:3), with the addition of 10 grams of tapioca starch in 100 grams of raw materials. The characteristics of candlenut shell and cigarette waste briquettes with tapioca binder showed the lowest moisture content of 6.0618% in sample S3 and the highest of 7.4365% in sample S2. Subsequently, the lowest ash content was 10.0327% in sample S2 and the highest was 12.4496% in sample S3, the lowest volatile matter content was 82,368% in sample S3 and the highest was 92,483% in sample S2, and the lowest calorific value was 4815.01 cal/g in sample S3 and the highest was 6781.42 cal/g in sample S2. The best and most proportional quality of candlenut shell and cigarette waste charcoal briquettes in this study was found in sample S2 with a mixture composition of 3:1 and the addition of 10 grams of tapioca binder in 100 grams of raw materials, exhibiting a moisture content of 7.4365%, ash content of 10.0327%, volatile matter content of 92,483% and a calorific value of 6781.42 cal/g.
