Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meganalisis perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan motivasi belajar siswa yang mengikuti model pembelajaran group investigation dengan model pembelajaran langsung. Hal ini dilakukan untuk mencari ada tidaknya pengaruh model pembelajaran group investigation terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis dan motivasi belajar siswa. Prosedur penelitian meliputi tahap persiapan yaitu melakukan pengamatan lapangan, study literatur, menentukan model pembelajaran, menyusun proposal penelitian, revisi proposal, menyusun instrument dan perangkat pembelajaran serta validasi instrument penelitian. Tahap pelaksanaan melakukan pre test, penerapan model pembelajaran group investigation pada kelas eksperiment dan penerapan model pembelajaran langsung pada kelas kontrol, kemudian dilakukan post test. Tahap penyelesaian melakukan pengolahan data, analisis data, dan penyusunan laporan.
Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kuasi eksperiment. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMPN 13 Kota Malang tahun pelajaran 2018/2019 sebanyak 240 siswa. Sampel penelitian kelas VII H dan VII I Sebanyak 59 siswa. Instrument penelitian berupa soal essay dan angket untuk mengukur kemampuan berpikir kritis dan motivasi belajar siswa. Data dianalisis menggunakan independent sample t-tes untuk menguji hipotesis. Teknik analisis data validitas, reliabilitas, uji normalitas, homogenitas varians, independent sample t-test dan uji N-gain diolah menggunakan SPSS 21,0 for windows.
Hasil analisis data menunjukan rata-rata post test kelompok kontrol = 79,88 dan kelompok eksperiment 85,97 untuk kemampuan berpikir kritis. Sedangkan nilai rata-rata motivasi belajar kelompok kontrol= 71,62 dan kelompok eksperiment= 76,56. Nilai thitung post test kedua kelompok tersebut menghasilkan sig. = 0,000 untuk kemampuan berpikir kritis dan sig. = 0,000 untuk motivasi belajar yang berarti < 0,05 sehigga Ho ditolak. Kesimpulanya terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan motivasi belajar siswa yang mengikuti model pembelajaran group investigation dengan model pembelajaran langsung.

This study aims to analyze the differences in critical thinking skills and learning motivation of students after following the social sciences learning by implementing group investigation model. The group investigation learning model is expected to enhance the critical thinking skills and learning motivation of the students. Research procedures include the preparation stage; conducting field observations, literature review, determining learning models, compiling research proposals, revising proposals, compiling learning instruments, and validating the instruments. Furthermore, the implementation stage includes the pre test, the implementation of the investigation group learning model on the experimental class, the implementation of the direct learning model to the control class, and post test. Finally, the completion stage consists of data processing, data analysis, and preparation of the reports.
This study used a Quasi-experimental design, with the population of all 240 students of the 7th grade in SMP 13 Malang in the academic year of 2018/2019. The research samples were students of class 7 H and 7 I, by the total of 59 respondents. Research instruments were essay and questionnaires used to measure the critical thinking skills and learning motivation of the students. Data were analyzed using independent sample t-Tests to conduct the hypothesis test. Analysis of validity, reliability, normality, homogeneity, independent sample t-test and N-gain were processed on the SPSS program for Windows operating system.
The results of the analysis on critical thinking skills demonstrated the average post-test score of the control group was 79.88, while the experimental group was 85.97. Furthermore, in the learning motivation variable, the average score in the control group was 71.62, while the experimental group was 76.56. The t-Test obtained significance value in the difference test between the post test of both groups, which were 0.000 for critical thinking skills, and 0.000 for learning motivation. As the significance values obtained were less than 0.05, thus the research hypotheses were accepted. Therefore, there is a significant difference (increase) in critical thinking skills and learning motivation of the students after receiving social sciences learning using the group investigation model.
