TEACHER-PARENT COMMUNICATION PATTERNS IN SHAPING THE SOCIAL CHARACTER OF STUDENTS OF SDN KAPASAN III/145 SURABAYA
Komunikasi guru dengan orang tua merupakan salah satu kunci keberhasilan pendidikan, termasuk dalam pembentukan karakter sosial siswa, khususnya kedisiplinan dalam berpenampilan, berseragam, dan beratribut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pola komunikasi guru dengan orang tua dalam membentuk karakter disiplin siswa di SDN Kapasan III/145 Surabaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif metode studi kasus. Subjek penelitian meliputi kepala sekolah, guru, orang tua, dan siswa. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi dengan instrumen berupa pedoman wawancara, lembar observasi, dan pedoman studi dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tahap data condensation, data display, dan drawing and verifying conclusion. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan komunikasi guru dengan orang tua dilaksanakan melalui pertemuan awal semester, pertemuan akhir semester, pertemuan untuk keperluan tertentu, pemanggilan orang tua, korlas, serta komunikasi harian sesuai kebutuhan. Komunikasi bersifat dua arah, multiarah, terbuka, formal, informal, dengan intensitas rutin dan tidak rutin. Bentuk komunikasi meliputi lisan dan tulisan dengan media langsung dan perantara telepon dan WhatsApp. Faktor pendukung komunikasi meliputi adanya telepon dan WhatsApp, keaktifan guru, pendekatan guru, serta kesadaran orang tua. Adapun faktor penghambat komunikasi yaitu keterbatasan alat komunikasi, kesibukan orang tua, anak tidak tinggal serumah dengan orang tua, serta kurangnya kesadaran orang tua.

Communication between teachers and parents is one of the keys to educational success, including in the formation of student’s social character, particularly discipline in appearance, uniforms, and attributes. This study aims to determine the communication patterns of teachers and parents in shaping student’s disciplinary character at SDN Kapasan III/145 Surabaya. This study used a qualitative research method with a case study method. The research subjects included the principal, teachers, parents, and students. Data were obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation studies using interview guides, observation sheets, and documentation study guidelines. Data analysis was conducted through data condensation, data display, and drawing and verifying conclusions. The results of the study indicate that teacher-parent communication occurs through pre-semester meetings, end-of-semester meetings, meetings for specific purpose, parent calls, class coordination and daily communication as needed. Communication is two-way, multidirectional, open, formal, and informal, with routine and irregular intensity. Communication includes verbal and written communication, both through direct communication and telephone and WhatsApp. Supporting factors include the availability of telephone and WhatsApp, teacher activity, teacher approach, and parental awareness. Inhibiting factors include limited communication tools, parents busy schedules, children not living at home with their parents, and lack of parental awareness.
