This study aims to
produce a digital comic media on the topic of events surrounding the
proclamation that is valid, practical, and effective in improving the
chronological thinking skills of sixth-grade elementary school students. The
research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE
model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development,
implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects were sixth-grade students
at SDN Ketegan, Tanggulangin Subdistrict, Sidoarjo Regency. Data collection
techniques included observation of teacher and student activities, response
questionnaires, as well as pretest and posttest assessments. The research
findings show that: (1) The quality of the digital comic media met the
feasibility criteria based on validation by subject matter and media experts,
achieving an average score of 93%, categorized as "very valid"; (2)
The level of practicality based on observations of teacher and student
activities indicated that the learning process was very good, practical, and
that students were highly engaged. The responses from both teachers and
students toward the media were also very positive; (3) The effectiveness level
of the media, as measured by test results, showed a significant improvement,
proven by an average N-Gain score of 0.72, which falls into the high category,
and a t-test result indicating a significant difference between pretest and
posttest scores. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the digital
comic media on the events surrounding the proclamation is effective for use in
social studies history learning to improve elementary students’ chronological
thinking skills.
