As time goes by, the use of relays in electric power distribution systems requires coordination testing between one relay and another in order to protect and secure the system optimally. This research aims to describe the results of testing the coordination of overcurrent relays and ground fault relays by carrying out program simulations and analyzing the performance of overcurrent relays and ground fault relays when disturbances or less than normal/abnormal conditions occur. This research was conducted at PT PLN (Persero) UP2D Jawa Timur. The data collection method is carried out by making observations to strengthen the literature and there are direct measurements in the field. This research carried out a program simulation method using the Electrical Transient Analyzer Program (ETAP) Power Station 19.0.1 software. The coordination of overcurrent relays and ground fault relays has Standard Inverse (SI) characteristics. The results of this research showed that at the South Surabaya 150 kV substation, transformer 2, Mangrove feeder had relay performance with a nominal overcurrent relay time of 0.29 seconds for the incoming side, 0.186 for the outgoing side. The ground fault relay has a nominal time of 0.22 seconds for the incoming side, 0.132 for the outgoing side. The conclusion from the results of this research is that the overcurrent relay and ground fault relay on the outgoing side will work first and continue with the incoming side as an additional protection and security system. The results of this research have been adjusted to the nominal time setting that meets International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards. 60255 regarding the use of protective relays.
