The learning method is one of the methods or methods used by a teacher to carry out the learning process, greatly assisting students in receiving lessons and improving lesson understanding. Peer Teaching Method is a method that invites students to learn with their peers, done by empowering students who have high absorption from the group of students themselves to become tutors for their peers. The purpose of this study is to describe the application and influence of peer teaching methods and describe students' responses to the application of peer teaching methods in the ability to compose simple Mandarin sentences in class X students at Hang Tuah 2 Sidoarjo High School.
This research is an experimental research using a quantitative approach, using an experimental design that is true experimental design (pure experimental design) in the form of a pre-test post-test control group design . The population in this study were all students of class X in SMA Hang Tuah 2 Sidoarjo and the sampling technique in this study using a simple random sampling technique and obtained class X MIPA 6 as many as 35 students as a control class and sample class X MIPA 3 as many as 35 students as a class experiment.
The results of the first problem formulation can be seen through the observations of the activities of teachers and students in the experimental class X MIPA 3 of SMA Hang Tuah 2 Sidoarjo by using the application of peer teaching method to the ability to compose simple Chinese sentences going well. This can be proven by the results of the percentage of teacher activities that produce a percentage of 90% and the percentage of student activities get a percentage of 93,75%, the percentage results when viewed through a Likert scale are in the very good category, it proves that the application of peer teaching method the ability to compose simple Chinese sentences has a good effect on learning.
Furthermore, the results of the second problem formulation are the results of the pre-test and post-test using the formula t-significance in the experimental class X MIPA 3 of SMA Hang Tuah 2 Sidoarjo obtained t o = 3,39 and d b = 68 known t a = 0,05 = 1,67 indicates that (3,39>1,67). This proves that the application of the peer teaching method affects the ability to compose simple Chinese sentences because when viewed based on the hypothesis acceptance classification, it is explained that H 1 will be accepted and H 0 will be rejected because t 0 is greater than t a , so it can be concluded that the application of the peer teaching method is very effective to improve students' abilities in composing Chinese sentences.
Besides, the results of the formulation of the third problem in the form of student questionnaire responses in the experimental class X MIPA 3 of SMA Hang Tuah 2 Sidoarjo consisting of ten questions in the range of 61% -100%, proves that the application of the peer teaching method gets responses which is very good from students and can be applied for learning to compose Chinese sentences.
