THE EFFECT OF ONLINE GAME ADDICTION ON ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT OF STATE 5 BANJAR FIRST MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
Abstrak
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meninjau hubungan kecanduan game online dengan prestasi akademik siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan studi korelasional.penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 5 Banjar dengan jumlah populasi sebanyak 350 siswa. Sedangkan pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik quota sampling, dan didapakan sampel sebanyak 109 siswa. Pengumpulan data penelitian menggunakan angket kecanduan game online serta pengumpulan data prestasi akademik siswa menggunakan nilai raport siswa. Kemudian dianalis menggunakan teknik analisis Person’s Product Moment dengan signifikansi 5%. Uji normalitas antara kecanduan game online dan prestasi akademik memiliki nilai signifikansi 0,193. Uji linearitas antara kecanduan game online dan prestasi akademik mendapatkan nilai signifikansi 0,723. Hasil peneitian korelasi menemukan bahwa terdapat hubungan negative antara kecanduan game online dengan prestasi akademik dengan nilai person korelasi sebesar -0,461 dengan kategori korelasi sedang. Hasil uji determinasi mendapatkan nilai adjusted R-square 0,212. Kesimpulan hasil penelitian pengaruh kecanduan game online terhadap prestasi akademik siswa SMP Negeri 5 Banjar di masa pandemi Covid-19 dapat diketahui memiliki pengaruh sedang sebesar 21,2%.

Abstract
This study aims was to review the relationship between online game addiction and academic achievement of junior high school students. This research uses a correlational study. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 5 Banjar with a population of 350 students. While the sampling used quota sampling technique, and obtained a sample of 109 students. Collecting research data using online game addiction questionnaires and collecting student academic achievement data using student report cards. Then analyzed using the Pearson's Product Moment analysis technique with a significance of 5%. The normality test between online game addiction and academic achievement has a significance value of 0.193. The linearity test between online game addiction and academic achievement got a significance value of 0.723. The results of the correlation study found that there was a negative relationship between online game addiction and academic achievement with a personal correlation value of -0.461 with a moderate correlation category. The results of the determination test get an adjusted R-square value of 0.212. The conclusion of the research on the influence of online game addiction on the academic achievement of SMP Negeri 5 Banjar students during the Covid-19 pandemic can be seen to have a moderate effect of 21.2%.
