VISUAL ANALYSIS OF MOTH CHARACTER DESIGN IN THE ONLINE GAME SKY CHILDREN OF THE LIGHT

Munculnya game online dikalangan masyarakat menjadi daya tarik tersendiri bagi kalangan penikmat game untuk bermain bersama-sama. Salah satu kemunculanya adalah game online indie dengan genre sosial MMORPG petualangan dengan nama Sky Children Of The Light yang dikembangkan Thatgamecompany yang bisa dimainkan oleh siapapun. Salah satu ciri khas yang ditampilkan pada game tersebut adalah background visual, musik, dan penampilan desain karakter. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan tahapan tinjauan desain untuk menganalisis  desain karakter moth sebagai karakter pertama yang menemani kita  diawal permainan. Hasil analisis yang sudah dilakukan menemukan beberapa data bahwa karakter moth pada game Sky children of The Light ini divisualisasikan seperti tokoh anak kecil yang menggunakan topeng dengan jubah yang dimilikinya untuk terbang dalam permainanya. Karakter moth memiliki beberapa persamaan dengan serangga ngengat dikehidupan sekitar karena ciri fisik maupun tingkah laku sehingga asal-usul nama moth sering dihubungkan dengan ngengat. Desain karakter moth pada game Sky Children Of The Light merupakan pengembangan dari desain karakter Robed Person dalam game Journey dimana game ini merupakan game ciptaan game yang sama.

The emergence of online games among people who like to play games has become a special attraction for game lovers to play together. One of its appearances is an indie online game with a social MMORPG adventure genre called Sky Children Of The Light developed by Thatgamecompany which can be played by anyone. One of the characteristics displayed in this game is the visual background, music and character design appearance. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research method with a design review stage to analyze the character design of the moth as the main character who accompanies us from the start of the game. The results of the analysis that has been carried out have found some data that the moth character in the game Sky Children of The Light is visualized like a child character who uses a mask and a cloak to fly in the game. The character of the moth has several similarities with insect called moths in the surrounding world due to its physical characteristics and behavior, so the origin of the name moth is often associated with moths. The moth character design in the Sky Children Of The Light game is a development of the Robed Person character design in the Journey game, where this game is a game created by the same game.
