Social media provides a space for expression for cosplayers, but also carries the risk of triggering online grooming as a form of digital violence. This qualitative phenomenological study aims to understand the experience of online grooming and its psychological impact on female cosplayers. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with three participants and analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The results revealed four main themes: identity exploration through cosplay, manipulative grooming stages, post-trauma psychological impact, and the recovery process with protective factors. Online grooming was found to have profound impacts—such as anxiety, dissociation, and changes in relational patterns—even in the absence of physical contact. Therefore, there is a need to enhance digital safety literacy, provide psychological support for digital trauma, and strengthen the role of communities in creating a safer online environment.
