THE PRINCESS OF CLEVES NOVEL BY MADAME DE LA FAYETTE AS AN INSPIRATION FOR THE CREATION OF PAINTING

Setiap manusia memiliki beragam peristiwa didalam hidupnya. Peristiwa itu bisa meliputi hal bahagia, sedih, maupun lainnya. Perupa mempunyai peristiwa tentang dihianati seorang laki-laki. Ketika membaca Novel yang berjudul “The Princess of Cleves, An Historical Novel” karya Marie-Medeleine Pioche de la Verne La Fayette, dalam novel tersebut ada sosok putri Madame de Cleves jatuh cinta dengan pria lain, akhirnya pangeran suami sang putri memikirkan hal tersebut hingga meninggal dunia. Ada kesinambungan dari segi peristiwa yang dialami oleh pangeran dengan perupa saat membaca novel tersebut. Dalam bahasan tugas akhir ini memunculkan kembali ingatan perupa pada peristiwa yang pernah terjadi. Dengan metode Practice-led Research mengubah sebuah novel menjadi bentuk visual seni lukis. Dari karakter Pangeran de Cleves dan pengalaman pribadi memberikan gambaran tentang kompleksitas perasaan yang dihadapi oleh perupa. Perupa akan memvisualisasikan menjadi karya berupa lukisan dengan pendekatan figuratif bergaya impresionisme. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi dan bermanfaat bagi pembaca umum.

Every human being has various events in their life. These events can include happy, sad, or other things. The artist has an event about being betrayed by a man. When reading the novel entitled "The Princess of Cleves, An Historical Novel" by Marie-Medeleine Pioche de la Verne La Fayette, in the novel there is a figure of Madame de Cleves' daughter who falls in love with another man, finally the prince, the husband of the princess, thinks about it until he dies. There is continuity in terms of events experienced by the prince with the artist when reading the novel. In the discussion of this final assignment, the artist's memory of the events that have occurred is brought back. With the Practice-led Research method, a novel is transformed into a visual form of painting. From the character of Prince de Cleves and personal experiences, it provides an overview of the complexity of feelings faced by the artist. The artist will visualize it into a work in the form of a painting with a figurative approach in the impressionist style. This research is expected to be a reference and useful for general readers
