Literary works are never separated from the daily life of humans,
both humans as individual creatures and social beings. Various kinds of
literary works have been created as a picture of human life that is reviewed
through humans themselves or human views of other humans. In this study, the
researcher used the main character Dàomíngsì in the 2018 drama series Meteor
Garden «流星花园» Liúxīng Huāyuán by Angie Chai as the object of research.
This study
analyzes the fulfillment of basic needs and the influence of basic needs on the
personality of the main character in the drama series Meteor Garden 2018 «流星花园» Liúxīng
Huāyuán by Angie Chai. The method used is descriptive qualitative method and
uses literary psychology approach. This research uses Abraham Maslow's
humanistic psychological theory, namely the hierarchy of needs. The data in
this study are dialogues, monologues, and scenes that show the personality
structure of the main character.
Based on the
data analysis, it can be concluded that Dàomíngsì has fulfilled their basic
needs and that Dàomíngsì has fulfilled their basic needs and affects their
personality formation. This is shown by the change in nature after the
physiological needs, the need for security, the need for love and belonging,
and the need for self-esteem have been met and then a loving, hardworking,
creative and independent character is formed.
