Jeminis novel by Suparto Brata and
Entroks novel by Okky Madasari both discuss gender injustice against Javanese
women. But both novels have their own characteristics in telling. So to examine
these two novels, comparative literature as a fitting theory. Comparative
literature used in this study prioritizes affinity with the theme of gender
injustice. The objectives of this research are: (1) to explain the forms of gender
injustice in the novel Jemini by Suparto Brata and Entrok by Okky Madasari, (2)
to explain the causes of gender injustice in the Jemini novel by Suparto Brata
and the novel Entrok by Okky Madasari, and (3) explain the struggle carried out
by female leaders to fight gender injustice in the novel Jemini by Suparto
Brata and Entrok by Okky Madasari.
This research uses descriptive
qualitative method. Primary data in this study are words, sentences,
paragraphs, dialogues between characters, discourses, and discourses in Jemini
and Entrok novels. Secondary data in this study is in the form of articles or
news that have a relationship with women, literary works, etc. that have a
relationship with gender injustice. The technique of collecting data from
researchers is in the form of library method.
The results of the study were divided
into three. First, the forms of gender injustice experienced by female
characters in Jemini's novel and Entrok's novel, namely subordination,
stereotyping, violence, and multiple workloads. Second, what causes gender
injustice in Jemini's novel and Entrok's novel is social factors, the community
contributes to gender inequality. Third, the struggle carried out by female
leaders to fight gender injustice in Jemini's novel and Entrok's novel is to be
an independent woman, choose to be silent, and dare to express opinions.
