This study was conducted at SDN Tanah Kali Kedinding 1/251 Surabaya
to enhance the gross motor skills of 4th-grade students, focusing on their
abilities to run, jump, and throw. It was found that some students had
not yet optimized these skills, often feeling fatigued quickly and showing
a lack of enthusiasm in physical education classes. The research focused
on 4th-grade students because, at this age, they are generally more
interested in play activities and are beginning to understand the rules of
games. By incorporating small games into the Physical Education,
Sports, and Health (PJOK) curriculum, it is hoped that the learning
process would become more enjoyable and effective. This study employed
a True Experimental design with a Cluster Random Sampling PretestPosttest method. Data analysis using SPSS showed that the
implementation of small games significantly improved the gross motor
skills of 4th-grade students. The normality test indicated that the initial
data was significant, with a value of 0.200. The paired sample t-test
yielded a significance of 0.000, indicating a significant difference between
the pretest and posttest results. The Independent Sample T-Test also demonstrated a statistically significant difference between the two sample
groups, with a Sig. 2-tailed value of 0.000. The N-Gain test results
showed a significant improvement in the experimental group, reaching a
value of 0.9, categorized as high, while the control group reached a value
of 0.4, falling into the medium category. This study proves that the
implementation of small games in PJOK lessons significantly enhances
students' gross motor skills. PJOK teachers are encouraged to continue
developing a variety of small games to keep students engaged and
interested in the lessons. The findings of this study can serve as a reference
for other schools in their efforts to improve the effectiveness of PJOK
instruction.
