Indonesia is among the countries with high rice production levels, yet rice imports are still carried out to maintain the availability and stability of domestic supply. This study aims to analyze the effects of domestic rice prices, international rice prices, national rice production, and the Rupiah exchange rate on Indonesia’s rice imports during the period 1993–2025 using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) method. The results show that in the long run, international rice prices and the Rupiah exchange rate have a significant positive effect on rice imports, while domestic rice production has a significant negative effect. Domestic rice prices do not have a significant effect in the long run. In the short run, domestic rice prices have a significant positive effect, domestic rice production has a significant negative effect, and the Rupiah exchange rate as well as international rice prices show significant effects at several lag periods. These findings indicate that Indonesia’s rice imports are influenced by both domestic and external factors.
