Penilaian kinerja (Performance Appraisal) merupakan salah satu kegiatan yang sangat penting bagi perusahaan maupun karyawan. Dengan adanya penilaian kinerja, diharapkan perusahaan dapat mengetahui kemampuan maupun keahlian karyawan dalam mencapai visi misi suatu perusahaan. Selain itu, hasil penilaian kinerja digunakan sebagai acuan dalam pemberian upah atau gaji karyawan. Di sisi lain, kegiatan penilaian kinerja digunakan sebagai rujukan bagi karyawan akan kekurangan dan kelebihan yang dimiliki. McDonald’s Raya Darmo Surabaya memiliki sistem penilaian kinerja yang diberlakukan kepada karyawan tetap. Penelitian menggunakan jenis penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara secara mendalam, analisis dokumen penilaian kinerja karyawan, dan observasi secara tidak langsung. Fokus penelitian ini yaitu menganalisis penilaian kinerja berdasarkan format yang berasal dari McDonald’s Amerika Serikat. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini menggunakan analisis data kualitatif model interaktif dari Miles dan Huberman, dimana model ini memiliki 3 (tiga) komponen penting diantaranya, reduksi data, sajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan atau verifikasi. Peneliti mendapatkan hasil analisis yang menyatakan bahwa sistem penilaian kinerja karyawan di McDonald’s Raya Darmo Surabaya dilakukan dengan metode Traditional Assessment dengan menggunakan Rating Scale Method dalam pengukuran kinerja karyawan. Pelaksanaan penilaian kinerja sebagian besar dilakukan secara satu arah, artinya karyawan dinilai oleh manajer yang berperan sebagai atasan. Sehingga, dalam pelaksanaannya masih terdapat beberapa kendala dalam penilaian diantaranya hallo effect, penilaian yang didasarkan pada kesan terakhir dan perbedaan interpretasi penilai. Namun secara keseluruhan McDonald’s Raya Darmo telah melakukan kegiatan penilaian kinerja karyawan dengan baik.

Performance Appraisal (PA) is one of the most important activities for both company and employees. With the performance appraisal, it is expected that the company can know the capabilities and expertise of employees in achieving the goals of a company. In addition, performance appraisal results are used as a reference in the provision of wages or salaries of employees. On the other hand, performance appraisal is used as a reference for employees for their shortcomings and advantages. McDonald’s Raya Darmo Surabaya has a performance appraisal system in place for permanent employees. The research uses a descriptive type of research with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques are conducted with in-depth interviews, analysis of related documents such as form of performance appraisal, and indirect observation. The focus of this study was analyzing performance appraisal formats based on formats derived from McDonald’s USA. The data analysis techniques in this study use qualitative data analysis of interactive models from Miles and Huberman, where this model has 3 (three) important components among them, data reduction, data serving, and conclusion or verification. Research obtained the result of an analysis that stated that the employee performance appraisal system at McDonald’s Raya Darmo Surabaya was conducted using Traditional Assessment method, and using Rating Scale Method in employee performance appraisal. Performance appraisal are mostly conducted in one direction, meaning employees are assessed by managers who act as superiors. Thus, in its implementation there are still gaps such as hallo effect, appraisal based on last impression, and different interpretations of manager. But overall McDonald’s Raya Darmo Surabaya has done its employee performance appraisal activities well.
