Salah satu kekurangan yang dimiliki siswa tunagrahita yaitu ketidak mampuan dalam menangkap sebuah informasi yang dipengaruhi oleh rendahnya penguasaan kosakata sehingga mengakibatkan perkembangan bahasa siswa menjadi terhambat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata anak tunagrahita ringan dalam pengenalan tentang anggota keluarga, penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan jenis pre eksperimental design dengan rancangan one group pre test post test design. Teknik statistik dalam analisis data penelitian ini adalah Wilcaxon matched pairs test. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa tes dan dokumentasi.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media teka-teki silang bergambar dapat berpengaruh terhadap penguasaan kosakata pada anak tunagrahita kelas dua di SDLB C Kumara II Surabaya. Penelitian menunjukkan sebelum diberikan perlakuan kosakata anak tunagrahita ringan memiliki rata-rata 51,78 setelah diberikan perlakuan meningkat menjadi 79,01. Penelitian menunjukkan nilai Zhitung= 2,5 lebih besar daripada Ztabel 5%, maka Ho ditolak Ha diterima, sehingga ada pengaruh antara media teka-teki silang terhadap penguasaan kosakata pengenalan anggota keluarga pada anak tunagrahita ringan.

One of the deficiencies, which was got by the mentally retardation students, was the disability to get the information which was influenced by low mastering vocabulary so that it impacted to the development of the students speech and this development was obstructed. This research had purpose to enhance the mastering vocabulary of mild mentally retardation children in recognizing family members. This research used quantitative with pre experimental design and one group pre-test post-test design. The statistic technique in data analysis of this research was Wilcoxon matched pairs test. The technique of data collection was in the form of test and documentation.
The research result indicated that the media of pictorial crosswords could influence toward the mastering vocabulary of mentally retardation children class two in SDLB C Kumara II Surabaya. The research indicated that before giving treatment, the mild mentally retardation childrens vocabulary got average 51,78 and after giving treatment, it enhanced to be 79,01. The research indicated that the value of Z counted = 2,5 was greater than Z table 5%, so Ho was refused Ha was accepted. So, there was influence among the crosswords media toward mastering vocabulary of recognizing family members to mild mentally retardation children.
