PRAKTIK KOMODIFIKASI PENELITIAN DISABILITAS DI SEKOLAH LUAR BIASA (SLB)
DISABILITIES RESEARCH COMMODIFICATION PRACTICES IN SPECIAL SCHOOLS (SLB)
Manusia adalah makhluk ciptaan Tuhan yang tercipta beragam, termasuk dalam hal disabilitas fisik, intelektual, mental, dan sensorik. Orang tua menganggap anak sebagai berkah, berharap anak lahir sehat dan bahagia. Namun, kenyataannya, beberapa anak terlahir dengan disabilitas dan membutuhkan perhatian khusus. Undang-Undang No. 8 Tahun 2016 di Indonesia mengatur hak-hak penyandang disabilitas, termasuk dalam pendidikan. Penyandang disabilitas sering menghadapi hambatan perkembangan fisik, kognitif, sosial, dan emosional, yang memerlukan pengasuhan khusus dan intensif dari orang tua. Pola pengasuhan yang konsisten dan tepat sangat penting untuk mendukung perkembangan dan kemandirian anak penyandang disabilitas. Sebagian besar orang tua memilih menyekolahkan anak mereka di Sekolah Luar Biasa (SLB) yang diharapkan dapat memberikan pendidikan setara dan dukungan sosial yang dibutuhkan. SLB menerapkan kurikulum life skill yang bertujuan mempersiapkan siswa menghadapi tantangan hidup. Namun, praktik komodifikasi terjadi di beberapa SLB, dimana penyandang disabilitas dieksploitasi secara ekonomi melalui kebijakan biaya tambahan dan pungutan lainnya. Komodifikasi dalam konteks pendidikan ini dapat terjadi melalui objektifikasi tubuh dan medikalisasi kehidupan penyandang disabilitas, yang mengubah mereka menjadi objek ekonomi. Ini berpotensi mengakibatkan dehumanisasi, merugikan individu dan keluarga penyandang disabilitas. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pengawasan ketat terhadap praktik komodifikasi di lembaga pendidikan untuk memastikan hak-hak dan kesejahteraan penyandang disabilitas terlindungi dan dihormati.

Humans are creatures created by God who are created in various ways, including physical, intellectual, mental and sensory disabilities. Parents consider children a blessing, hoping that the child will be born healthy and happy. However, in reality, some children are born with disabilities and require special attention. Law no. 8 of 2016 in Indonesia regulates the rights of people with disabilities, including in education. People with disabilities often face physical, cognitive, social and emotional development barriers, which require special and intensive care from parents. Consistent and appropriate parenting patterns are very important to support the development and independence of children with disabilities. Most parents choose to send their children to Special Schools (SLB) which are expected to provide equal education and the social support needed. SLB implements a life skills curriculum which aims to prepare students to face life's challenges. However, commodification practices occur in several SLBs, where people with disabilities are exploited economically through policies of additional fees and other levies. Commodification in the educational context can occur through the objectification of the body and medicalization of the lives of people with disabilities, which turns them into economic objects. This has the potential to result in dehumanization, harming individuals and families with disabilities. Therefore, strict supervision of commodification practices in educational institutions is needed to ensure that the rights and welfare of people with disabilities are protected and respected.
