This research aims to determine the
role of parents and teachers in motivating students' interest in reading using
a digital library at SDN Kendangsari I/276 Surabaya while at home. This study
uses a qualitative descriptive method with interview, observation, and
documentation techniques. The data sources obtained in this research consist of
primary and secondary data. The primary data sources include the headmaster,
the librarian, class teachers, parents of students, and the students
themselves. The secondary data sources are data indirectly obtained by the
researcher but still related to the roles of parents and teachers. Data
collection techniques in this study employ interview, observation, and
documentation methods. Before analyzing the data, this research first
conducts data analysis before going to the field and data analysis after
fieldwork. Subsequently, data will be analyzed in several stages, including
data collection, data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research
indicate that the role of parents in motivating children's reading interest
through the use of a digital library at home shows that parents, as motivators
and companions, positively influence improving children's reading interest and
supporting their educational success. Meanwhile, the role of teachers in
motivating students' reading interest at home is to create reading schedules
for students to read more diligently. Teachers also act as facilitators by
providing facilities in the teaching and learning process, such as creating a
conducive learning environment and providing digital library facilities to help
students read books anytime and anywhere.
