The Role of Rewards and Punishments in the Development of Disciplined Character Fifth Grade Students of Sambikerep Elementary School I/479
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih ditemukannya perilaku kurang disiplin pada siswa sekolah dasar, seperti keterlambatan dan rendahnya kepatuhan terhadap tata tertib sekolah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan reward and punishment serta menganalisis perannya dalam pengembangan karakter disiplin siswa kelas V SDN Sambikerep I/479. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis studi kasus. Subjek penelitian meliputi guru kelas VA, VB, VC, siswa kelas VA, VB, VC, dan kepala sekolah, dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan, sedangkan keabsahan data diperoleh melalui triangulasi sumber dan teknik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa reward and punishment diterapkan secara edukatif dan tidak represif. Reward dalam bentuk pujian dan penghargaan sederhana terbukti meningkatkan disiplin siswa, sedangkan punishment berupa teguran dan tugas tambahan membantu menumbuhkan kesadaran serta kontrol diri. Dengan demikian, reward and punishment memiliki peran penting dalam menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang kondusif dan mendukung pembentukan karakter disiplin siswa secara berkelanjutan.

This research is motivated by the continued occurrence of undisciplined behavior among elementary school students, such as tardiness and low compliance with school regulations. This study aims to describe the implementation of reward and punishment and analyze their role in the development of discipline character among fifth-grade students at SDN Sambikerep I/479. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. The research subjects include teachers of classes VA, VB, VC, students of classes VA, VB, VC, and the school principal, with data collection techniques thru observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was obtained thru source and technique triangulation. The research results show that rewards and punishments are applied in an educational and non-repressive manner. Rewards in the form of praise and simple recognition have proven to enhance student discipline, while punishments in the form of reprimands and additional assignments help foster awareness and self-control. Thus, rewards and punishments play an important role in creating a conducive learning environment and supporting the sustainable development of students' disciplined character.
