The Effectiveness of Comic Strip Media in Improving The Ability to Write Narrative Essays in German at Grade XI IBB Students in SMA Negeri 2 Sidoarjo

Dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Jerman, kemampuan menulis merupakan salah satu keterampilan berbahasa yang penting untuk dimaksimalkan. Berdasarkan pengamatan yang telah dilakukan, sebagian besar siswa kelas XI IBB di SMA Negeri 2 Sidoarjo mengalami kesulitan dalam pembelajaran menulis Bahasa Jerman, khususnya menulis karangan narasi. Untuk itu, media pembelajaran komik strip dapat digunakan sebagai salah satu alternatif dalam mengatasi masalah tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah media komik strip efektif digunakan dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis karangan naratif Bahasa Jerman siswa kelas XI IBB di SMA Negeri 2 Sidoarjo. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode Quasi experiment dengan desain penelitian One Group Pretest-Postest Design. Terdapat 34 siswa dari kelas XI IBB di SMA Negeri 2 Sidoarjo tahun ajaran 2022/2023 sebagai subjek penelitian ini. Adapun instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu RPP, tes tertulis dan angket respon skala Likert. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dapat diketahui bahwa media komik strip efektif digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis karangan naratif Bahasa Jerman siswa kelas XI IBB di SMA Negeri 2 Sidoarjo ditandai dengan perolehan nilai rata-rata N-Gain score sebesar 38,04% atau berkriteria efektif sedang dan diperkuat dengan hasil uji T yang menunjukkan nilai t_hitung>t_tabel (9,690>1,692) pada taraf signifikansi 5% yang artinya hipotesis nol (H₀) ditolak dan H₁ diterima. Sementara dari hasil analisis angket respon, didapatkan persentase sebesar 77,9% atau berkriteria sangat baik. Sehingga, baik dari aspek motivasi maupun efektivitas, siswa memberikan respon yang positif terhadap pembelajaran menulis karangan naratif menggunakan media komik strip. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran komik strip dapat dijadikan media alternatif yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis karangan naratif Bahasa Jerman siswa di SMA.

In learning German, writing skills are one of the most important language skills that need to be maximized. Based on observations that have been made, most of the students of class XI IBB in SMA Negeri 2 Sidoarjo have difficulty writing German, especially writing narrative essays. For this reason, comic strip can be used as an alternative to overcome these problems. The purpose of this research was to determine whether the comic strip media effectively contribute to improving the ability to write a narrative essay by students of class XI IBB SMA Negeri 2 Sidoarjo. The method used in this research is a quasi-experimental method with one group pretest-postest design. The subject of this research are 34 students of class XI IBB at SMA Negeri 2 Sidoarjo for the academic year 2022/2023. The instruments used in this research are lesson plan, written test and questionnaire in Likert scale. Based on the results of the data analysis, it can be seen that comic strip is effectively used to improve the ability to write narrative essays by students of class XI IBB SMA Negeri 2 Sidoarjo, characterized by the acquisition of an average N-gain score of 38.04% or medium efficiency, and reinforced by the results of the T-test, which shows the value of t_count> t_table (9,690> 1,692) at a significance level of 5%, which means that the null hypothesis (H₀) is rejected and H₁ is accepted. While the results of the questionnaire response analysis gave a percentage of 77.9% or very good criteria. Both from the aspects of motivation and effectiveness, students respond positively to learning to write narrative essays using comic strip. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the learning media comic strip can be used as an effective alternative medium to improve the ability of students to write narrative essays in SMA.
