PEMANFAATAN ABU TEMPURUNG KELAPA SEBAGAI SUBSTITUSI FILLER PADA CAMPURAN PERKERASAN ASPHALT CONCRETE – BINDER COURSE

Perkembangan dan pertumbuhan penduduk di Indonesia sangat pesat. Seiring dengan hal tersebut berakibat pada meningkatnya mobilitas penduduk di berbagai daerah. Hal ini menimbulkan berbagai jenis kendaraan terutama kendaraan berat yang melintas di jalan raya. Salah satu prasarana transportasi yang berperan penting dalam mobilitas penduduk sehari-hari adalah jalan. Oleh sebab itu perlu adanya upaya peningkatan kuantitas dan kualitas jalan yang memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat.

Permasalahan sampah di Indonesia juga merupakan masalah yang belum terselesaikan hingga saat ini. Limbah kelapa sangat banyak di Indonesia dan kurangnya dimanfaatkan oleh manusia. Seluruh bagian kelapa memberikan manfaat bagi manusia mulai dari akar hingga buahnya. Penelitian ini memanfaatkan limbah di Indonesia untuk material jalan, yaitu abu tempurung kelapa yang digunakan sebagai filler dalam campuran aspal beton. Pemakaian limbah abu tempurung kelapa sebagai filler merupakan salah satu alternatif yang diharapkan akan meningkatkan kinerja campuran perkerasan AC BC (Asphalt Concrete – Binder Course). Filler merupakan bahan berbutir halus yang lolos saringan No.200.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengurangi limbah tempurung kelapa, mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan abu tempurung kelapa sebagai filler pada campuran AC-BC berdasarkan karakteristik Marshall. Karakteristik Marshall yang digunakan sebagai campuran AC-BC dengan penambahan filler abu tempurung kelapa pada kadar yang sudah diujikan dengan variasi filler 3,5% dan 4%. Hasil uji Marshall menunjukkan bahwa nilai stabilitas, VMA, dan MQ dapat memenuhi seluruh parameter Marshall yang disyaratkan, sedangkan nilai flow, VIM, dan VFA masih belum memenuhi spesifikasi. Berdasarkan parameter Marshall nilai yang paling optimal adalah KAO 6,1% dengan variasi filler 3,5%.

The development and growth of the population in Indonesia is very rapid. Along with this, it results in increased population mobility in various regions. So that it causes the emergence of various types of vehicles, especially heavy vehicles that pass on the highway. One of the means of transportation that plays an important role in the daily mobility of the population is the road. Therefore, it sees an increase in the quantity and quality of roads that meet the needs of the community.

The waste problem in Indonesia is a problem that has not been resolved to date. There is a lot of coconut waste in Indonesia and underutilized by humans. All parts of the coconut provide benefits to humans from the roots to the fruit. There are efforts to utilize this waste in Indonesia to strengthen roads, one of which is coconut shell ash used as filler in concrete mixtures. The use of coconut shell ash waste as filler is an alternative that is expected to help the performance of asphalt concrete - binder course pavement mixtures. Filler is a fine-grained material that passes the No.200 sieve.

This research will be useful in reducing coconut shell waste and also to determine the effect of using coconut shell ash as filler in AC-BC asphalt concrete mixtures using Marshall characteristics. Marshall characteristics used as AC-BC mixture with the addition of coconut shell ash filler at levels that have been tested with 3.5% and 4% filler variations. The Marshall test results show that the stability, VMA, and MQ values can meet all the required Marshall parameters, while the flow, VIM, and VFA values still do not meet the specifications. Based on Marshall parameters, the most optimal value is KAO 6.1% from 3.5% filler variation.
