ANALISA PENGENDALIAN MUTU PRODUK CAT SOLVENT BASED DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN METODE SIX SIGMA

QUALITY CONTROL ANALYSIS ON SOLVENT BASED PAINT PRODUCTS USING THE SIX SIGMA METHOD

Produk cat solvent based merupakan jenis produk cat berbahan dasar minyak yang berguna sebagai pelapis atau pelindung objek serta melindungi besi, baja atau seng dari karat sehingga objek akan terhindar dari korosi dan tahan lama. Aktivitas produksi dengan berbagai macam jenis cat dalam sekali produksi, membuat industri cat harus selalu memperhatikan mutu dari cat yang diproduksi. Kegiatan yang diperlukan perusahaan agar terhindar dari produk cacat dan rugi akibat return adalah dengan pengendalian mutu. Salah satu metode pengendalian mutu statistik yang dapat diterapkan industri cat yaitu metode six sigma. Tujuan dari artikel ilmiah literature review ini untuk mengetahui jenis kecacatan yang sering terjadi pada karakteristik mutu produk cat solvent based, mengetahui faktor penyebab kecacatan dan menentukan upaya pemecahan masalah kecacatan menggunakan metode six sigma. Hasil analisis menunjukan bahwa jenis kecacatan yang sering terjadi dan berpengaruh pada karakteristik mutu cat solvent based adalah blending dengan faktor utama yang berpengaruh adalah faktor temperatur. Berdasarkan analisis DPMO diketahui proses produksi cat berada pada level sigma yang belum terkendali. Usulan pemecahan masalah yang diberikan adalah quality control melakukan pengecekan serta penstabilan temperatur dengan mengacu pada kecepatan mixer mesin dan pengecekan temperatur secara otomatis melalui dissolver machine dengan pengaturan mesin akan mati sendiri apabila suhu berkurang/melebihi ketetapan dan akan hidup lagi pada suhu optimal.

Solvent based paint product is a type of oil based paint product that is useful as a coating or object protector and to protect the iron, steel or zinc from rust so the object will be protected from corrosion and will be durable. Production activities with various types of paint in one production makes the paint industry always pay attention to the quality of the paint produced. The activity required by the company to avoid defective products and losses due to returns is a quality control. One of the statistical quality control methods that can be applied to the paint industry is the six sigma method. The purpose of this scientific literature review article is to determine the types of defect that often occur in the quality characteristics of solvent based paint products, determine the causes of defect and determine defect problem solving efforts using the six sigma method. The results of the analysis show that the types of defect that often occur and affect the quality characteristics of solvent based paint is blending with the causative factors being the temperature factor. Based on the DPMO analysis, it is known that the paint production process is at the uncontrolled sigma level. The proposed solution to the problem given are the quality control will be checking and stabilize the temperature by referring to the mixer engine speed and automatic temperature checking on dissolver machine with the setting of machine will turn itself off when the temperature decrease/exceeds the specified temperature and will start again at optimal temperature.
