Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh latihan pernapasan terhadap regulasi emosi atlet senam ritmik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode quasi experimental tipe one group pretest-posttest design. Penelitian ini menggunakan kelompok yang diberikan perlakuan (treatment) latihan pernapasan. Subjek penelitian berjulah 6 atlet senam ritmik kelas intensif Zasis Gymnastics Club Surabaya yang dipilih menggunakan teknik non-probability sampling jenis purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan skala IERQ4S (Indonesian Emotional Regulation Questionnaires for Sport) yanng telah lolos uji validitas. Kuesioner tersebut digunakan ketika pre-test pada hari pertama pemberian perlakuan dan post-test pada hari terakhir pemberian perlakuan. Perlakuan berupa latihan pernapasan Four Square Breathing diberikan selama 24 pertemuan dalam kurun waktu 6 minggu, dilakukan sebelum, saat, dan setelah latihan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan skor rata-rata regulasi emosi dari 2.63 pada pre-test menjadi 2.91 pada post-test. Uji normalitas menggunakan Shapiro-Wilk menunjukkan data berdistribusi normal. Uji paired sample t-test menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0.016 (p < 0.05), sedangkan uji Wilcoxon menghasilkan nilai signifikansi 0.039 (p < 0.05). Kedua hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan sebelum dan sesudah pemberian perlakuan. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa latihan pernapasan Four Square Breathing berpengaruh positif dan signifikan dalam meningkatkan regulasi emosi atlet senam ritmik. Latihan pernapasan ini dapat direkomendasikan sebagai bagian dari program latihan untuk membantu atlet mengelola tekanan psikologis serta meningkatkan stabilitas emosional dalam latihan maupun pertandingan.

This study aims to determine the effect of breathing exercises on the emotional regulation of rhythmic gymnastics athletes. This study is a quantitative study using a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. This study used a group given breathing exercise treatment. The research subjects were 6 rhythmic gymnastics athletes from the intensive class of Zasis Gymnastics Club Surabaya who were selected using a non-probability sampling technique with a purposive sampling type. Data were collected using the IERQ4S (Indonesian Emotional Regulation Questionnaires for Sport) Scale which has passed the validity test. The questionnaire was used during the pre-test on the first day of treatment and the post-test on the last day of treatment. The treatment in the form of Four Square Breathing breathing exercises was given for 24 meetings over a period of 6 weeks, carried out before, during, and after training. The results showed an increase in the average score of emotional regulation from 2.63 in the pre-test to 2.91 in the post-test. The normality test using Shapiro-Wilk showed that the data were normally distributed. The Paired Sample T-test showed a significance value of 0.016 (p < 0.05), while the Wilcoxon test yielded a significance value of 0.039 (p < 0.05). These two results indicate a significant difference before and after treatment. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Four Square Breathing breathing exercise has a positive and significant effect on improving emotional regulation in rhythmic gymnastics athletes. This breathing exercise can be recommended as part of a training program to help athletes manage psychological stress and improve emotional stability during training and competitions.
