         Penelitian ini membahas tentang salah satu teknik mixing audio yaitu teknik sidechain compression pada karya musik iklan yang berjudul Pertamax Turbo Mandalika sebagai objek penelitan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana teknik sidechain compression dengan menggunakan plugin compressor audio yang dilakukan oleh Tommy Respati sebagai multimedia composer sekaligus mixing audio enginer pada karya musik iklan Pertamax Turbo Mandalika. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pada karya ini terdapat 3 komponen sound utama yaitu percussive, synthesizer dan impact. Dimana 2 komponen sound utama yaitu percussive dan synthesizer akan dilakukan proses kompresi menggunakan plugin compressor audio yang menggunakan sinyal dari sound impact sebagai sidechain input. Sehingga, pada saat sound impact berbunyi, maka volume sound percussive dan synthesizer akan turun / mengecil akibat dari proses kompresi dan volume tersebut akan kembali  normal secara otomatis ketika sound impact tidak berbunyi. Sehingga sound impact menjadi sound yang lebih prioritas (lebih menonjol atau dominan). Dengan demikian, hasil mixing audio dapat menunjang visual iklan Pertamax Turbo Mandalika. Dalam hal ini, musik menjadi lebih menarik, energic, serta mempunyai dinamika.

This study introduces sidechain compression technique, which is one of the audio mixing techniques used in Pertamax Turbo Mandalika advertisement music as a research object. Using qualitative research method, this research aimed to analyze the sidechain compression technique using audio compressor plugin performed by Tommy Respati as the multimedia composer as well as audio mixing engineer in Pertamax Turbo Mandalika commercial music. The results of this study indicated that there are 3 main sound components namely percussive, synthesizer and impact. Two main sound components, percussive and synthesizer, will be compressed using the audio compressor plugin which uses the signal from the impact sound as the input sidechain. Therefore, when the impact sound playing, the percussive and synthesizer sound volume will decrease as the result of the compression process, and it will automatically return to normal when the impact sound stopped. This process made the impact sound becomes a priority (more prominent or dominant). Thus, the audio mixing results can support the visuals of the Pertamax Turbo Mandalika ad and make the music becomes more interesting, energetic and dynamic.
