PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN METODE FOUR STEP STEINBERG TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA PERMULAAN ANAK AUTIS

Membaca permulaan merupakan dasar keterampilan berbahasa yang harus dikuasai, termasuk anak autis. Anak autis memiliki gangguan dalam menyerap informasi, dengan karakteristik mudah bosan dan merupakan visual learner sehingga mengalami hambatan dalam membaca. Sehingga dilakukan treatment dengan penerapan metode Four Step Steinberg. Metode Four Step Steinberg adalah metode membaca melalui 4 tahap dengan bantuan media visual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh metode Four Step Steinberg terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan pada anak autis.
Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, dengan jenis penelitian pre experiment dan desain penelitian one-group and pretest posttest. Data yang dikumpulkan berupa hasil tes lisan, tes tulis, dan dokumentasi. Tes lisan dan tulis ini digunakan untuk memperoleh data kemampuan membaca permulaan sebelum dan sesudah diberikan perlakuan.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata pre test 48,21 dan rata-rata post tes 79,46. Untuk analisis data menggunakan statistik non parametrik dengan uji wilcoxon match pair test , H nol (Ho) ditolak dan hipotesis kerja (Ha) diterima, Z hitung (Zh) = 2,37 lebih besar dari Z tabel (Zt) = 1,96 dengan = 5 %. Sehingga diartikan terdapat pengaruh metode Four Step Steinberg terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan anak autis.

Beginning reading was the basic skill of speech which should be mastered, included autism children. The autism children had disturbance in getting information with characteristics easy to be bored and they were visual learners so that they got disturbance in reading. So, it was done treatment with the application of Four Steps Steinberg method. The Four Steps Steinberg method was reading method through 4 steps with visual media assisted. This research had purpose to observe the influence of Four Steps Steinberg method toward beginning reading ability to autism children.
This research method used quantitative with pre-experiment kind and One-Group Pretest and Posttest design. The data collected was in the form of oral test result, written test result, and documentation. These oral and written were used to obtain the data of beginning reading ability before and after being given treatment.
The research result indicated that the average value of pretest was 48,21 and the average value of posttest was 79,46. The data analysis used statistic non parametric with Wilcoxon match pair test. The null hypothesis (Ho) was refused and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, Z counted (Zh) = 2,37 was greater than Z table (Zt) = 1,96 with α = 5%. So, it was interpreted that there was influence of Four Steps Steinberg method toward beginning reading ability to autism children.
