Sarangan
Lake is famous for its annual tradition of offerings (Larung Sesaji). This
tradition is held routinely once a year, precisely on Friday Pon in the month
of Ruwah according to the Javanese calendar. This study aims to analyze the
management of the tradition of offerings (Larung Sesaji) in strengthening
culture-based tourism in Sarangan, Plaosan District, Magetan Regency, focusing
on three main aspects: tradition, environment, and socio-economic aspects.
This study uses a qualitative descriptive type
with a case study approach. Data collection techniques include
non-participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and studies of archival
documentation and relevant literature. The number of informants in this study
was 8, namely, the Head of Sarangan Village, the Head of the Committee, the
Head of the Youth Organization, Traditional Leaders, speedboat entrepreneurs,
horse entrepreneurs, traders, and Cultural Officials from the Culture and
Tourism Office of Magetan Regency. The data obtained were then analyzed using
the interactive model of Miles and Huberman which includes the stages of data
collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or
verification.
The results of the study indicate that
the traditional aspects of the Larung Sesaji reflect the gratitude of the
Sarangan community for the existence of Lake Sarangan, respect for ancestors,
and prayer requests symbolized through the offerings. The implementation of
this tradition involves traditional leaders and the Youth Organization (Karang
Taruna). On the environmental side, there is collaboration between various
parties in maintaining the balance of tradition and the environment through
appeals, education, cooperation with Community Self-Help Groups (KSM), and
future plans to use questionnaires. Socially, it strengthens cultural identity
through the involvement of Karang Taruna, the spirit of mutual cooperation, and
the tradition of eating together. On the economic aspect, there is cooperation
between the community and the Magetan Regency Culture and Tourism Office which
has proven to have a sustainable impact through an increase in the number of
tourist visits.
