The development
of elementary school students’ potential is an essential concern, in line with
human resource development efforts towards Indonesia Emas 2045. Through
extracurricular activities at school, students are given opportunities to
develop their potential, including non-academic potential in the field of
sports. This study aims to analyze the management of sports extracurricular
activities in developing the non-academic potential of elementary school
students at SDN Kauman 1 and SDN Ngrowo 2, which are two elementary schools
with the best achievement records in Bojonegoro District over the last three
years. The contextual differences between the two research sites influence the
managerial strategies implemented. However, both demonstrate a high commitment
to facilitating the development of students’ potential, as reflected in their
students’ achievements in sports. This research employed a qualitative approach
with a multi-site case study method, in which data were collected through
interviews, observations, and document analysis. Four criteria for testing data
validity were applied in this study: credibility, transferability,
dependability, and confirmability. The findings indicate that the management of
sport extracurricular programs at both schools has been affectively implemented
across all managerial components. At the planning stage, both schools determine
the types of extracurricular activities
based on students’ interests and talents while engaging all relevant
stakeholders. In terms of organizing, the schools successfully form teams and
distribute tasks clearly according to each member’s competence and dedication.
During the implementation stage, the activities are carried out continuously,
systematically, and in alignment with previously established plans, while also
providing ample opportunities for students’ development. In the evaluation
stage, both schools apply regular assessments involving various parties,
followed by appropriate follow-up actions for improvement. Overall, the
management of sports extracurricular activities in both schools effectively
supports the development of students’ non-academic potential.
