The purpose of this study was
to determine the implementation of the Guided Discovery Learning learning model
in science learning and to determine the effect of the Guided Discovery
Learning learning model on the learning outcomes obtained by fourth grade
students at SDN Lakarsantri II/473 on style materials in the era of the
COVID-19 pandemic. This study used a quasi-experimental design method using a
control group and an experimental group. Sampling used a saturated sampling
technique that was adapted to pandemic conditions. Collecting data using
activity observation instruments for teachers, activities for students,
assessment of learning outcomes in the affective domain (attitudes),
psychomotor domains (skills) and using test instruments on pretest and posttest
question sheets to determine the effect of GDL on learning outcomes in the
cognitive domain. The results showed that the average percentage of activities
for teachers, activities for students, affective and psychomotor learning
outcomes 78% which shows that the implementation of learning by applying the
Guided Discovery Learning learning model has been going well and in accordance
with learning guidelines based on guided discovery. . While related to
cognitive learning outcomes, the experimental class students' completeness
scores got a percentage of 36% for the pretest questions, and after receiving
treatment with the application of the GDL model, the experimental class
students' cognitive mastery learning outcomes increased to 67% in the posttest
questions. The gain score of student learning outcomes shows the number 0.346
which can be categorized as the level of effectiveness of the applied learning
model (GDL) in the experimental class is moderate, compared to the gain score
for the control class using conventional learning models. This is supported by
conducting an independent sample t-test which shows that thitung
> ttabel . 2.235 > 1.666 so that it can be concluded that the
gain obtained by the experimental class and the control class has a significant
difference. So that it can be concluded that the Guided Discovery Learning
model is better than the application of conventional learning models which
serves to improve student learning outcomes in the era of the covid-19
pandemic. The results in this study indicate and show that there is an
influence of the Guided Discovery Learning learning model on student learning
outcomes so that it can be used as a reference or alternative in choosing a
learning model that is appropriate to the pandemic era.
