This study aims to develop an instructional medium in
the form of a motion graphic video on the topic of theories regarding the
arrival of Hindu-Buddhist religion and culture in Indonesia, with the goal of
improving learning outcomes for Grade X students at PKBM Tunas Harapan
Surabaya. The research employs the ADDIE development model, which includes the
stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The
media was validated by subject matter experts, media experts, and instructional
design experts, and tested through individual trials, small group trials, and
large group trials. The 3–4 minute video presents four main theories (Vaishya,
Kshatriya, Brahmin, and Reverse Flow theories) using dynamic illustrations,
narration, and visual elements tailored to the characteristics of PKBM
students. Accompanying learning materials and teaching modules were also
developed to support structured learning.
The
validation results indicate that the media is “highly feasible,” with a
feasibility score of 90.7% from the subject matter expert, 95.6% from the media
expert, and 88.8% from the instructional design expert. The effectiveness test
showed a significant increase in students’ learning outcomes, with the experimental group achieving a
post-test average of 84.5, compared to 68.3 in the control group. Based on the
t-test results, there is a significant difference between the two groups,
indicating that the developed motion graphic video is effective in enhancing
students’ learning outcomes in the topic of Hindu-Buddhist historical theories.
