PENGEMBANGAN BUKU CERITA BERGAMBAR BERBASIS KEARIFAN LOKAL GRESIK UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KARAKTER DAN LITERASI EMOSI PADA SISWA KELAS V SEKOLAH DASAR
DEVELOPMENT OF ILLUSTRATED STORYBOOKS BASED ON GRESIK LOCAL WISDOM TO IMPROVE CHARACTER AND EMOTIONAL LITERACY IN GRADE V ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan buku cerita bergambar berbasis kearifan lokal Gresik guna meningkatkan nilai karakter dan literasi emosi siswa kelas V sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini didasarkan pada teori literasi emosi Goleman, yang menekankan pentingnya kemampuan anak dalam mengenali, mengelola, dan mengekspresikan emosi secara sehat dalam konteks sosial. Selain itu, digunakan teori nilai karakter dari Lickona, yang menekankan pembentukan karakter melalui pengalaman bermakna dan konteks budaya yang relevan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model pengembangan ADDIE yang terdiri atas lima tahap: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation. Produk yang dikembangkan berupa buku cerita bergambar yang memuat tujuh cerita pendek dengan mengangkat tradisi lokal Pasar Bandeng sebagai latar cerita. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa buku ini sangat valid digunakan dalam pembelajaran, dengan skor rata-rata 93,5% dari ahli materi, media, dan bahasa. Kepraktisan media berdasarkan respons guru mencapai 91%, tergolong sangat praktis. Keefektifan produk berdasarkan uji N-Gain sebesar 79,05%, tergolong sangat efektif. Dengan demikian, penggunaan buku cerita bergambar berbasis kearifan lokal Gresik terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan nilai karakter siswa, seperti tanggung jawab, kepedulian, dan kerja sama, serta meningkatkan literasi emosi siswa, khususnya dalam kemampuan memahami, mengelola, dan mengekspresikan emosi secara sehat dalam interaksi sosial.

This study aims to develop an illustrated storybook based on the local wisdom of Gresik to enhance character values and emotional literacy among fifth-grade elementary school students. The research is grounded in Goleman's theory of emotional literacy, which emphasizes children's ability to recognize, manage, and express emotions in a healthy and socially appropriate way. Additionally, Nikoma's theory of character education underpins this study, highlighting the importance of instilling character through meaningful experiences rooted in local culture. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model, consisting of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The developed product is an illustrated storybook containing seven short stories inspired by the local tradition of Pasar Bandeng (Bandeng Market) in Gresik. Validation results show that the book is highly valid for classroom use, with an average expert validation score of 93.5% from content, media, and language experts. The practicality of the book based on teacher responses reached 91%, categorized as very practical. Furthermore, the effectiveness test using the N-Gain score showed an increase of 79.05%, which falls into the highly effective category. These findings indicate that the illustrated storybook based on the local wisdom of Gresik is effective in improving students’ character values—such as responsibility, empathy, and cooperation—as well as enhancing their emotional literacy, particularly in recognizing, managing, and expressing emotions in a healthy manner within social interactions.
