Formalistic Analysis of Bumi Manusia Movie Poster

Abstrak

Poster film sebagai media promosi sebuah film yang akan ditayangkan di bioskop. Poster film “Bumi Manusia” menjadi salah satu karya seni poster yang dapat menggambarkan sebuah novel yang diciptakan oleh seorang sastrawan yaitu Pramoedya Ananta Toer dan dibuat menjadi film oleh Hanum Bramantyo, poster ini dapat diuraikan dalam penelitian analisis formalistik ini di karenakan sang produser Falcon picture ini sangat ingin menyampaikan rasa dan makna pada poster film tersebut. Dalam poster tersebut terdapat visual wajah para pemain film dengan warna kekuningan yang mendominasi. Pada saat dirilis poster film ini sangat ditunggu-tunggu karena diadaptasi dari novel ciptaan yang sangat kontroversi tentang sejarah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan analisis formalistik pada poster film “Bumi Manusia”. dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif berupa prinsip-prinsip layout, ilustrasi, tipografi, dan warna. Hasil pembahasan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui bagaimana prinsip layout dalam poster dan unsur-unsur apa saja pada poster film ini. Menganalisis secara formalistik menggunakan unsur-unsur desain yaitu ilustrasi, tipografi, dan warna. Juga prinsip layout berupa sequence, emphasis, unity dan balance. Temuan dalam penelitian ini yaitu terdapat dua sequence pada poster, memiliki warna kekuningan yang mendominasi pada poster sekaligus kesan warna tersebut menjadi unity atau kesatuan dalam poster film “Bumi Manusia” dan sebagainya.

Abstract

Movie posters as a promotional medium for a film that will be shown in theaters. The film poster "Bumi Manusia" is one of the poster art works that can describe a novel created by a writer, namely Pramoedya Ananta Toer and made into a film by Hanum Bramantyo, this poster can be described in this formalistic analysis research because the producer of this Falcon picture really want to convey the feeling and meaning of the film poster. In the poster there is a visual of the faces of the film players with a dominant yellow color. At the time of its release, the poster for this film was eagerly awaited because it was adapted from a very controversial novel about history. This study aims to describe the formalistic analysis of the poster for the film "Bumi Manusia". by using descriptive qualitative research methods in the form of the principles of layout, illustration, typography, and color. The results of the discussion of this study are to find out how the principles of layout in the poster and what elements are in this film poster. Analyzing formally using design elements, namely illustration, typography, and color. Also the principle of layout in the form of sequence, emphasis, unity and balance. The findings in this study are that there are two sequences on the poster, which have a yellowish color that dominates the poster as well as the impression that the color becomes unity in the movie poster of "Bumi Manusia" and so on.
