UPAYA PENGUATAN TOLERANSI DAN MODERASI BERAGAMA DI PONDOK PESANTREN MAHASISWA JAGAD ‘ALIMUSSIRRY SURABAYA
EFFORTS TO STRENGTHEN RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE AND MODERATION AT THE JAGAD 'ALIMUSSIRRY STUDENTS' ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL SURABAYA
Pondok pesantren merupakan warisan budaya leluhur di Indonesia yang masih dilestarikan hingga saat kini. Pondok Pesantren menjadi lembaga pendidikan islam non formal yang mendidik toleransi dan moderasi beragama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi upaya penguatan toleransi dan moderasi beragama serta tantangan melahirkan toleransi dan moderasi beragama di Pondok Pesantren Mahasiswa Jagad ‘Alimussirry Surabaya. Fokus penelitian mencakup strategi yang diterapkan dalam membangun karakter santri mahasiswa agar bersikap toleran dan moderat, serta tantangan yang dihadapi dalam penerapannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan mixed methods dengan mengidentifikasi berbagai metode pendidikan yang digunakan, seperti kurikulum integratif, pembelajaran berbasis inklusif, dan peran aktif kiai dalam menginternalisasi sikap moderasi beragama. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pesantren ini berhasil menerapkan strategi yang efektif untuk membentuk santri yang menghormati pluralitas, memiliki keimanan yang kokoh, serta menjunjung nilai-nilai Pancasila dan kebangsaan. Tantangan yang harus dihadapi pondok pesantren antara lain keberadaan pondok pesantren/kelompok intoleran dan radikalisme yang bersifat masif. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi pada pengembangan teori pendidikan karakter berbasis toleransi dan moderasi beragama serta menjadi referensi bagi lembaga pendidikan Islam lainnya.

Islamic boarding schools are an ancestral cultural heritage in Indonesia that is still preserved today. Islamic boarding schools are non-formal Islamic educational institutions that educate religious tolerance and moderation. This research aims to explore efforts to strengthen religious tolerance and moderation as well as the challenges of creating religious tolerance and moderation at the Jagad 'Alimussirry Surabaya Student Islamic Boarding School. The focus of the research includes the strategies implemented in building the character of student students to be tolerant and moderate, as well as the challenges faced in their implementation. This research uses mixed methods approach by identifying various educational methods used, such as integrative curriculum, inclusive-based learning, and the active role of kiai in internalizing attitudes of religious moderation. The research results show that this Islamic boarding school has succeeded in implementing an effective strategy to form students who respect plurality, have a strong faith, and uphold Pancasila and national values. Challenges that Islamic boarding schools must face include the existence of massive intolerant and radicalist boarding schools or groups. This research contributes to the development of character education theory based on religious tolerance and moderation and becomes a reference for other Islamic educational institutions.
