Pendidikan merupakan salah satu usaha sadar suatu bangsa yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas atau potensi sumber daya manusia (SDM), melalui kegiatan pembelajaran yang dapat membantu siswa dalam mengembangkan potensi yang ada pada dirinya secara maksimal. Peningkatan mutu pendidikan nasional yang saat ini sedang dan terus dilakukan oleh pemerintah, masih banyak kendala yang dihadapi di lapangan. Tingginya angka siswa putus sekolah (dropout) merupakan salah satu prioritas yang terus diperhatikan pemerintah. Oleh karena itu maka dibutuhkan suatu sistem untuk mengetahui jumlah siswa putus sekolah. Sistem ini dimaksudkan untuk memprediksi siswa putus sekolah dengan menerapkan algoritma Decision Tree C4.5. Algoritma Decision Tree C4.5 bisa melakukan prediksi peluang masa depan berdasarkan data yang sudah ada sebelumnya, dengan mempertimbangkan beberapa variabel yang akan menjadi penentu hasil akhir suatu keputusan. Hasil dari penggunaan data mining dengan metode Decision Tree C4.5 dapat diterapkan dalam melakukan prediksi jumlah siswa putus sekolah. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian metode decision tree C4.5 memiliki akurasi sebesar 92%, presisi 84% dan recall sebesar 50%. Pada sistem menampilkan pohon keputusan dengan hasil yang diperoleh yaitu data siswa putus sekolah lebih sedikit dibandingkan dengan data siswa yang masih aktif (tidak putus sekolah).

Education is one of the conscious efforts of a nation which aims to improve the quality or potential of human resources (HR), through learning activities that can help students develop their potential to the maximum. While improving the quality of national education is currently being carried out and continues to be carried out by the government, there are still many obstacles faced in the field. The high number of students dropping out of school is one of the priorities that the government continues to pay attention to. Therefore, we need a system to find out the number of students who have dropped out of school. This system is intended to predict students dropping out of school by applying the Decision Tree C4.5 algorithm. The C4.5 Decision Tree algorithm can predict future opportunities based on previously existing data, by considering several variables that will determine the final outcome of a decision. The results of using data mining with the Decision Tree C4.5 method can be applied in predicting the number of students dropping out of school. Based on the test results, the C4.5 decision tree method has an accuracy of 92%, precision of 84% and recall of 50%. The system displays a decision tree with the results obtained, namely that the data on students who have dropped out of school is less than the data on students who are still active (not dropped out of school).
