NOVEL BY KIRANADA: A STUDY OF SIGMUND FREUD’S 

THEORY OF PSYCHODYNAMIC

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi untuk menemukan bentuk 

perkembangan kejiwaan tokoh Musa dalam novel Madielief Karya 

Kiranda menggunakan kajian teori psikodinamika Sigmund Freud, 

dan mengetahui latar belakang kepribadian tokoh Musa, serta 

mengetahui bentuk kecemasan neurotik tokoh Musa dalam novel 

Madielief karya Kiranada. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan 

psikologi sastra, dengan teori psikodinamika Sigmund Freud. 

Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode kualitatif. Teknik yang 

digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu teknik pengumpulan data 

baca dan catat. Sumber data penelitian berupa novel Madielief karya 

Kiranada.

Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa tokoh Musa 

mengalami perkembangan kejiwaan lebih baik daripada 

sebelumnya. Latar belakang kepribadian tokoh Musa dipengaruhi 

oleh tiga sistem kepribadian id, ego, dan superego. Bentuk kecemasan 

neurotik tokoh Musa dipengaruhi oleh pengalaman buruk, reaksi 

panik, dan fobia spesifik yang dialami tokoh. Perkembangan 

kejiwaan Musa mengalami perubahan dari waktu ke waktu 

disebabkan oleh konflik-konflik yang dialaminya dan bagaimana 

tokoh Musa merespon konflik-konflik tersebut.

The background of this research is to find out the form of the 

psychological development of the character Musa using the study 

of Sigmund Freud psychodynamic theory, and knowing the 

personality background of the character Musa, and knowing the 

form of neurotic anxiety of the character Musa in the novel Madielief 

by Kiranada. This study uses a literary psychology approach, with 

Sigmund Freud psychodynamic theory. The method used is 

qualitative method. The technique used in this study is the 

technique of collecting reading and note-taking data. The source of 

the research data is the novel Madielief by Kiranada.

Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the 

character Musa experienced better psychological development than 

before. The personality background of Musa character is influenced 

by the three personality systems of the id, ego, and superego. The 

form of neurotic anxiety in the character Musa is influenced by bad 

experiences, panic reactions, and specific phobias experienced by 

the character.
