Analysis of Scientific Literacy for Student of SMPN 1 Gresik

Hasil dari penelitian survei ini bertujuan guna mendeskripsikan tingkat pencapaian literasi sains peserta didik. Penelitian ini melibatkan subjek penelitian siswa SMP Negeri 1 Gresik kelas 8 tahun ajaran 2019/2020. Sampel penelitian diambil secara acak dari kelas 8F, 8G, 8H, 8I, dan 8J. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen tes berisi soal literasi sains berjumlah 15 butir soal, yang diadopsi dari soal-soal PISA dan mengacu pada beberapa parameter tiap aspek literasi sains. Hasil tes dianalisis berdasarkan standar deviasi dan dikategorikan menjadi 3, yaitu: kategori rendah, sedang, dan tinggi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat literasi sains siswa kelas 8 SMPN 1 Gresik pada kategori rendah sebesar 12 %, kategori sedang sebesar 68 %, dan kategori tinggi sebesar 20 %. Adapun capaian masing-masing indikator literasi sains diperoleh persentase yang berbeda-beda. Simpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan kecenderungan tingkat literasi sains peserta didik SMPN 1 Gresik berada pada kategori sedang. Implikasi dari hasil penelitian ini yaitu guru dapat mengetahui tingkat literasi sains siswanya, sehingga bisa merancang model pembelajaran yang tepat dan mampu meningkatkan curiosity siswa, sehingga tingkat literasi sains peserta didik menjadi lebih baik.

The results of this survey research aim to describe the level of achievement of students' scientific literacy. This research involved the research subjects of Grade 8 students of SMP N 1 Gresik in the 2019/2020 school year. The research sample was taken randomly from classes VIIIF, VIIIG, VIIIH, VIIII, and VIIIJ. The data collection technique used a test instrument containing 15 scientific literacy questions, which were adopted from PISA questions and referred to several parameters for each aspect of scientific literacy. The test results were analyzed based on standard deviation and categorized into 3, namely: low, medium, and high categories. The results showed that the level of scientific literacy of 8th grade students of SMP N 1 Gresik in the low category was 12%, the medium category was 68%, and the high category was 20%. As for the achievement of each indicator of scientific literacy, different percentages were obtained. The conclusions of this study indicate the tendency of the level of scientific literacy of students of SMP N 1 Gresik to be in the medium category. The implication of the results of this study is that teachers can determine the level of scientific literacy of their students, so that they can design appropriate learning models and be able to increase student curiosity, so that students' scientific literacy levels will be better.
