In
its development an art can change from time to time. These changes are caused
by several factors, namely internal factors and external factors. These changes
can be in the form of innovations made by art actors with specific goals. One
of them is the innovation carried out by the Jaranan association in Kediri
Regency, called Manggolo Cahyo Mudho, where the Jaranan association is unique,
namely by replacing the boar character that was originally danced by male
dancers but was replaced by female dancers.
This
research examines the role, process of change and the response given by the
community to the phenomenon of changing wild boar dancers in the art of Jaranan
Manggolo Cahyo Mudho in Kediri Regency. From the three problem formulations
above, the researcher uses role theory, change, the factors that influence the
arts and traditional arts to dissect the phenomena that occur. This research
uses qualitative methods with descriptive types. Data collection techniques
used were interviews, observation and documentation using data analysis
techniques in the form of pre-field analysis and field data analysis.
The
results of the research and discussion show that Manggolo Cahyo Mudho has made
innovations in the form of changes to the wild boar dancers caused by internal
and external factors. The internal factor is so that his Jaranan continues to
sell and be loved by loyal MCM fans, in addition to maintaining the existence
of the name of MCM. The external factor is the result of the large number of
other network associations which eventually lead to competition between one
community and another. The process of this change certainly takes a long time,
because there are many preparations that must be done. The response from the
community due to changes in wild boar dancers is that it is not uncommon for
people to view boar dancers as cheap and even naughty women because by playing
a wild boar character some people think that this is taboo or inappropriate if
it is done by women. However, there are also not a few people who actually
consider this to be a natural thing due to the equality of roles between men
and women.
It
can be concluded that women can be used as an alternative to develop art and
for commercial purposes women have a high selling value to increase profits.
