Untuk para praktikan guru Bahasa Inggris, kelas microteaching adalah program yang dibutuhkan untuk menyiapkan mereka mengajar di kelas sesungguhnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan peer feedback yang disampaikan oleh guru bahasa Inggris prajabatan selama diskusi microteaching. Ini berisi (a) umpan balik guru bahasa Inggris prajabatan tentang penampilan rekan-rekan mereka di kelas microteaching, (b) bagaimana mereka memberikan umpan balik, (c) mengapa mereka memberikan umpan balik semacam itu terhadap penampilan rekan-rekan mereka.
Cara untuk menyelidiki poin-poin tersebut dengan studi kualitatif adalah dengan melakukan observasi, transkripsi, dan wawancara. Peserta berasal dari 26 kalangan mahasiswa yang dipersiapkan untuk praktek mengajar dan mereka yang bertugas memberikan umpan balik atas penampilan tersebut. Sesi diskusi yang diobservasi dilakukan secara langsung setelah penampilan mengajar. Observasi dilakukan melalui aplikasi konferensi online, dan video rekaman sebagai alat yang bisa digunakan untuk mengingat ulang proses praktek mengajar.
Dalam hasil penelitian, data menunjukkan ada tiga jenis umpan balik yang muncul antara lain umpan balik konfirmatori, umpan balik kritis, dan umpan balik sugestif. Jenis tersebut memiliki jumlah banyak yang berbeda berdasarkan kondisinya. Selain itu, keterampilan mengajar adalah poin utama di dalam umpan balik untuk menganalisa kemampuan mengajar seperti keterampilan membuka, keterampilan menjelaskan, keterampilan bertanya, dan lain-lain. Selain itu, pola cara teman sebaya menyampaikan masukan pun bermacam-macam, baik yang penuh pujian, kritik tanpa saran, atau bahkan pemberi umpan balik yang terbata-bata ketika berbicara. Selain itu, pertimbangan rekan sebaya memiliki peran dalam mempengaruhi isi umpan balik seperti harapan mereka, aspek-aspek yang menjadi fokus, kecenderungan jenis umpan balik, dan pemikiran mereka tentang pemberian umpan balik yang efektif.

For the pre-service English teacher, the microteaching is required program for them to prepare teaching in the real class. This research has purpose to expose the peer feedback delivered by pre-service English teachers during the microteaching discussion. It contains of (a) preservice English teachers feedback on their peers performance in microteaching class, (b) how they provide the feedback, (c) why they provide such a peer-feedback to their peers performance.
The ways to investigate those points by qualitative study were by doing observation, transcription, and interview. The participants are from 26 college students who were prepared to have teaching practice and those who served the feedback about the performance. The discussion session which was observed was conducted directly after the teaching performance. The observation was done by online video conference application, and the recording as the tool was able to be used to recall the teaching process.
In the finding, the data shows that there are three feedback types which appear including confirmatory feedback, critical feedback, and suggestive feedback. Those types have different amount of delivery based on the performance. Moreover, the teaching skills are the main points inside the feedback in order to analyze the teaching performance skills, such as opening skill, explanation skill, question skill, etc. Moreover, the patterns of the way peers delivered the feedback were various, whether it is full of praise, critic without suggestion, or even the filler coming while talking. Besides that, the peers considerations have role in influencing the contents of feedback such as their expectations, the aspects as the focus, tendency of the feedback types, and their thought about giving effective feedback.
