MISERY IN THE GEMPOL NOVEL BY TULUS S (THEORY OF SOCIOLOGY LITERATURE)

     Kesengsaraan merupakan salah satu wujud deadaan sosial masyarakat yang sering diceritakan oleh sastrawan dalam novel sebagai bentuk penghayatan terhadap kehidupan disekelilingnya. Novel Gempol merupakan salah satu karya sastra yang menggambarkan keadaan sosial masyarakat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk menjelaskan dan menjabarkan kesengsaraan yang terjadi dalam novel Gempol karya Tulus S. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu teori sosiologi sastra.

     Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode kualitatif deskriptif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini yaitu novel Gempol karya Tulus S. Bentuk data penelitian ini yaitu kata, kalimat, dan wacana. Tatacara pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik baca catat dan teknik dokumen. Data yang disuguhkan berupa deskripsi tentang gambaran kesengsaraan didalam novel Gempol.

     Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah data yang berbentuk kata dan kalimat yang menunjukkan adanya kesengsaraan yang terjadi dalam novel Gempol karya Tulus S yang dibagi menjadi tiga bagian, yaitu (1) bagaimana keadaan sosial kehidupan masyarakat dalam novel Gempol karya Tulus S, (2) bagaimana kesengsaraan yang terjadi dalam novel Gempol karya Tulus S, dan (3) bagaimana sudut pandang pengarang dalam novel Gempol karya Tulus S. Dari data yang menunjukkan adanya kesengsaraan yang terjadi dalam novel Gempol karya Tulus S.

     Misery is one form of social deformation of society that is often told by writers in the novel as a form of appreciation of the life around them. Gempol novel is a literary work that describe the social situation of the community. The purpose of this study is to explain and describe the misery that accurred in the Gempol novel by Tulus S. The theory used in this research is the theory of literary sociology

     The method used is descriptive qualitative method. Source of data in this research is the Gempol novel by Tulus S. Form research data namely words, sentences, and discourse. Prosedures for data collection using note taking and document techniques. Data presented in the form of a description of the description of misery in the Gempol novel.

     The result of this study are data in the form of words and sentences that indicate the misery that occurs in the Gempol novel by Tulus S which is devided into three parts, namely (1) how the social conditions of people’s lives in the Gempol novel by Tulus S, (2) how misery what happened in the Gempol novel by Tulus S, and (3) how the authors perspective in the Gempol novel by Tulus S. From the data that show the misery that occurs in the novel Gempol by Tulus S.
