ABSTRACT
This research stems from the love relationship in the novel Seumpama Matahari by Arafat Nur. Starting with a love relationship, problems arise to find answers to questions about the components of love that are found in that relationship. From the interpretation of the components of love produced a concept called the type of love.
The purpose of this study is to describe (1) the intimacy component in the novel Seumpama Matahari by Arafat Nur, (2) the desire component in the novel Seumpama Matahari by Arafat Nur, (3) the decision and commitment component in the Seumpama Matahari novel by Arafat Nur, and (4) the concept of the type of love in the novel Seumpama Matahari by Arafat Nur.
This study uses Robert J. Sternberg's love triangle theory with the Psychology of Literature approach. The data source in this study is the novel Seumpama Matahari by Arafat Nur and various literatures that support the research topic. Research data in the form of sentences, paragraphs, dialogues or monologues that have relevance to the problem formulation. The data collection technique used in this study was note-taking, while the data analysis technique used descriptive analysis technique.
The results showed that in the intimacy component 37 data were found on the love relationship between Asrul and Putri. In the intimacy component there are ten elements which are all in the love relationship between Asrul and Putri. In the desire component found 16 data which include expressions of arousal, affiliation, psychological arousal, self-esteem, and nurturing. In the decision component there are seven data, six data from Asrul and one data from Putri. In the commitment component, it was found one data from Asrul addressed to Putri. From the three components, a concept of love is produced, namely true love.
