DRAWING LEARNING FOR MENTALLY RETARDED IN WIDYA TAMA SPECIAL SCHOOL SURABAYA
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses dan metode pembelajaran serta hasil karya gambar anak tunagrahita dari aspek tema, teknik, media, serta bahan yang digunakan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Total sampel pada penelitian ini adalah 4 anak tunagrahita. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi pengambilan hasil akhir karya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan proses pembelajaran menggambar anak tunagrahita di SLB Widya Tama Surabaya selalu didampingi oleh guru disetiap perkembangannya. Teknik yang digunakan saat proses pewarnaan setiap peserta didik berbeda, teknik blok dan teknik spiral. Media dan bahan yang digunakan adalah kertas, pensil dan krayon.
Metode mengajar yang dilakukan oleh pengajar yakni metode demonstrasi. Metode demonstrasi digunakan karena sesuai terhadap anak tunagrahita yang harus dibimbing setiap tahapan dalam menggambar. Hasil karya anak tunagrahita memiliki ciri khas, terutama dalam pembuatan garis yang tidak bisa lurus dan pembuatan objek yang harus diawasi dalam pembuatannya.

This study aims to determine the process and method of learning as well as the artworks produced by mentally disabled children viewed from the aspects of theme, techniques, media, and materials used. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. The total sample in this study is five mentally disabled children. Data collection techniques are applied through observation, interviews, and documentation of the final results of the artwork. The results of the study show that the teachers in each development stage must always monitor the learning process of drawing for mentally disabled children in Widya Tama Special School Surabaya. The coloring process technique for each student is different, the block technique and the spiral technique. The media and materials being used are paper, pencils, and crayons.
The teaching method used by the teachers is the demonstration method. The demonstration method is used on account of its compatibility for mentally disabled children as they must be guided through each stage in the learning process of drawing. The artwork of mentally disabled children has its characteristics, particularly in the struggle of drawing straight lines and constructing objects which must be monitored in the learning process.
