Non-academic programs play a strategic role
in developing student interests and talents and improving non-academic
achievement in schools. The success of these programs is largely determined by
effective and sustainable management, encompassing planning, organization,
implementation, and supervision. This study aims to describe and analyze the
management of Non-Academic Programs in achieving student achievement through a
multi-site study at SMP Kemala Bhayangkari 6 Surabaya and SMP Wachid Hasyim 1
Surabaya. The research focuses on the implementation of non-academic program
management functions in supporting student achievement at both schools.
This study uses a qualitative approach with a
descriptive qualitative approach. The researcher acts as the key instrument and
is directly present in the field to obtain in-depth and contextual data. Data
collection techniques include in-depth interviews, participant observation, and
documentation studies. Data analysis is conducted interactively through the
stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The
research design utilizes a multi-site study, beginning with a single-site analysis
at each school and then continuing with a cross-site analysis to identify
similarities and differences in non-academic program management at both study
sites.
Research findings indicate that non-academic
program management at SMP Kemala Bhayangkari 6 Surabaya and SMP Wachid Hasyim 1
Surabaya has been implemented systematically and structured. Program planning
based on student evaluation and interests, clear organization through
organizational structures and division of tasks, scheduled and participatory
program implementation, and ongoing supervision have positively contributed to
improving student non-academic achievement. Teachers and supervisors play a central
role as motivators, facilitators, mentors, and evaluators in student
development. Furthermore, communication and collaboration between stakeholders,
along with support from infrastructure and resources, are key factors
contributing to the success of non-academic programs in achieving student
achievement.
