Komposisi musik merupakan salah satu materi yang wajib dicapai pada puncak pembelajaran musik didalam sekolah maupun perguruan tinggi yang memiliki jurusan seni musik. Komposisi adalah salah satu sarana menuangkan seluruh teori yang dipelajari pada pembelajaran musik seperti ilmu harmoni, orkestrasi, ilmu analisa bentuk musik, akustik organologi, psikologi musik, sampai pada estetika musik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan (1) Bagaimana proses pengembangan buku komposisi musik sebagai panduan penyusunan komposisi musik? (2) Bagaimana kualitas buku komposisi musik sebagai panduan penyusunan komposisi musik? (3) Bagaimana keefektifan buku komposisi musik sebagai panduan penyusunan komposisi musik? Pengembangan ini merupakan bentuk pengembangan materi komposisi musik untuk membuat sebuah komposisi musik, macam-macam komposisi, langkah-langkah membuat komposisi musik.

Pada proses pengembangan Buku Komposisi Musik menggunakan model pengembangan Four-D dengan menerapkan empat tahap pengembangan yaitu Define, Design, sampai pada tahap Develop. Dalam proses ujicoba Buku Komposisi Musik, penulis menggunakan 1 angkatan mahasiswa yaitu pada Jurusan Sendratasik serta Seni Musik Murni Unesa sebagai tempat ujicoba. Namun ternyata dalam satu angkatan tersebut terdapat 42 mahasiswa Seni Murni.

Hasil penelitian dan pembahasan ini menunjukkan bahwa pada aspek kelayakan materi didapatkan kategori sangat layak dengan persentase akhir 96%. Pada aspek kegrafikaan didapatkan kategori sangat layak dengan persentase akhir 98%. Setelah proses ujicoba 2 selesai, penulis memberikan tes pemahaman mahasiswa dengan hasil persentase menggunakan skala Linkert sebesar 90,75% yang berarti Buku Komposisi Musik sangat efektif sebagai buku pembelajaran komposisi musik. Dan dapat disimpulkan bahwa Buku Komposisi Musik sangat layak sebagai buku penunjang belajar komposisi musik. Berbagai aspek perhitungan di atas menunjukkan bahwa Buku Komposisi Musik sangat efektif dan sangat layak untuk dijadikan sebagai buku pembelajaran komposisi musik untuk mahasiswa seni musik Unesa.

Music composition is one of the materials that must be achieved at the peak of music learning in schools and colleges that have music art majors. Composition is a means of expressing all theories learned in music learning such as the science of harmony, orchestration, the science of analysis of musical forms, acoustic organology, music psychology, to the aesthetics of music. This study aims to describe (1) What is the process of developing a musical composition book as a guide for the preparation of music composition? (2) What is the quality of the music composition book as a guide for the preparation of music composition? (3) What is the effectiveness of the music composition book as a guide for the preparation of music composition? This development is a form of development of music composition material to make a musical composition, various compositions, steps to make a musical composition.

In the process of developing the Music Composition Book using the Four-D development model by applying the four development stages, namely Define, Design, to the Develop stage. In the process of testing the Music Composition Book, the writer uses 1 class of students, namely the Department of Sendratasik and Pure Music Art Unesa as a place of testing. But apparently in one generation there were 42 Fine Arts students.

The results of this study and discussion indicate that in the aspect of material appropriateness, a very decent category was obtained with a final percentage of 96%. In the graphic aspect, it was found that the category was very feasible with a final percentage of 98%. After the 2nd trial process is complete, the authors provide a student understanding test with the percentage results using a Linkert scale of 90.75% which means the Music Composition Book is very effective as a music composition learning book. And it can be concluded that the Music Composition Book is very suitable as a book supporting the study of music composition. Various aspects of the calculation above show that the Music Composition Book is very effective and very feasible to be used as a music composition learning book for music students at Unesa.
