The Impact of Kamishibai Method in Storytelling Activities on the Receptive Language Ability of Children Aged 5-6 Years
Metode kamishibai adalah metode yang menggunakan media berupa teater kertas dengan menggabungkan gambar dan teks untuk mengutarakan sebuah cerita. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode kamishibai dalam kegiatan bercerita terhadap kemampuan bahasa reseptif anak usia 5-6 tahun. Penelitian ini merupakan quasi experimental design yang dilaksanakan di tiga lembaga sekolah, yakni TK Khadijah Ahmad Yani Surabaya, TK Aisyiyah 16 Surabaya, dan RA Baitul Karim. Uji Mann-Whitney U menghasilkan nilai Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0,000. Analisis uji hipotesis tersebut memperoleh kesimpulan bahwa hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima atau terdapat pengaruh. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode kamishibai dalam kegiatan bercerita memberikan impak yang positif terhadap kemampuan bahasa reseptif anak. Anak mampu menyatakan komentar dan pertanyaan, mampu menanggapi bacaan secara aktif seperti menceritakan pengalaman terkait topik cerita, menjawab pertanyaan tentang kosakata baru, dan menyimpulkan cerita yang dibacakan, mampu mengenali beberapa unsur cerita dengan baik, mulai dari karakter, seting, hingga masalah yang sedang dihadapi tokoh tersebut, serta mampu melanjutkan sebagian cerita dan menceritakannya kembali.
Kamishibai is a method that uses media in the form of paper theater by combining images and text to tell a story. This research aims to determine the impact of kamishibai method in storytelling activities on the receptive language abilities of children aged 5-6 years. This research is quasi experimental design which was carried out in three school institutions, namely TK Khadijah Ahmad Yani Surabaya, TK Aisyiyah 16 Surabaya, and RA Baitul Karim. Test Mann-Whitney U generate value Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000. The hypothesis testing analysis concluded that the alternative hypothesis was accepted or had an impact. The results of this research indicate that the application of the method kamishibai Storytelling activities have a positive impact on children's receptive language abilities. Children are able to express comments and questions, are able to respond to reading actively, such as telling experiences related to the topic of the story, answering questions about new vocabulary, and concluding the story being read, are able to recognize several story elements well, starting from the characters, setting, to the problem being faced. the character, as well as being able to continue part of the story and retell it.
