THE INDIVIDUATION PROCESS OF KYOSHI IN F. C. YEE’S AVATAR: THE RISE OF KYOSHI
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses individuasi Kyoshi, tokoh utama dalam novel Avatar: The Rise of Kyoshi karya F.C. Yee, dalam perjalanannya menuju realisasi diri sebagai seorang Avatar. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga mencari tokoh-tokoh lain yang memiliki peran penting dalam proses individuasi Kyoshi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan psikoanalisis dalam teori proses individuasi Carl Jung. Dalam memperoleh hasil penelitian, peneliti meneliti lima arketipe proses individuasi Kyoshi, yaitu persona, shadow, ego, animus, dan self. Peneliti memperoleh data dari narasi, dialog, monolog, dan latar-latar di dalam novel. Penelitian ini memiliki hasil pada arketipe Kyoshi yang menunjukkan bahwa ia telah berhasil melalui proses individuasi untuk mencapai realisasi diri sebagai seorang Avatar. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan bagi penelitian selanjutnya dalam meneliti karakter novel dengan menggunakan pendekatan psikoanalisis, khususnya teori proses individuasi Carl Jung.

This study aims to examine the individuation process of Kyoshi, the main character in F. C. Yee's novel Avatar: The Rise of Kyoshi, on her journey to self-realization as the Avatar. In addition, this research also looks for other characters who have an important role in Kyoshi''s individuation process.This research using a psychoanalytic approach in Carl Jung's individuation process theory. In obtaining the results, the researcher examined five archetypes of Kyoshi's individuation process, namely persona, shadow, the ego, animus, and the self. The researcher obtained data from narration, dialog, monologue, and settings in the novel. This research has results on Kyoshi's archetypes that show she has successfully gone through the individuation process of achieving self-realization as the Avatar. Other influential characters were also found to have an important influence in helping Kyoshi in her individuation process.This study is expected to provide insight for further research in examining novel characters using a psychoanalytic approach, especially Carl Jung's individuation process theory.
