Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menguji (1) pengaruh strategi thematic life based learning terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik kelas III Sekolah Dasar, (2) pengaruh gaya kognitif terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik kelas III Sekolah Dasar, dan (3) interaksi antara strategi thematic life based learning dan gaya kognitif terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik kelas III Sekolah Dasar.
Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Eksperimen Postes Quivalent Control Group Design (Factorial 2χ2). Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas III di SD Kecamatan Gayungan Kota Surabaya sejumlah 256. Sedangkan sampel penelitian terdiri dari empat SD yaitu SDN Gayungan II, SDN Dukuh Menanggal I, SDN Ketintang I, SDN Menanggal 601. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan observasi dan tes. Teknik analisis data penelitian dengan menggunakan Anova dengan bantuan software SPSS 16.0.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) ada pengaruh strategi thematic LBL terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik kelas III SD di Surabaya, (2) tidak ada pengaruh gaya kognitif terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik kelas III SD di Surabaya, dan (3) ada interaksi antara strategi thematic LBL dan gaya kognitif terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik kelas III SD di Surabaya.
Selanjutnya disarankan (1) strategi thematic life based learning sesuai untuk dipergunakan dalam pembelajaran peserta didik SD kelas III pada tema kewajiban dan hakku sebagai warga Negara dengan muatan mata pelajaran PKn, Matematika, Bahasa Indonesia dan Seni Budaya dan Prakarya karena mampu meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik, (2) gaya kognitif sebagai dasar untuk mengetahui cara berpikir peserta didik, tidak berkaitan dengan hasil belajar, disarankan dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran guru mencari aternatif lain dari karakteristik peserta didik untuk dijadikan pertimbangan dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar dan (3) strategi thematic life based learning mampu memfasilitasi gaya kogntif dan hasil belajar peserta didik sehingga sangat tepat untuk diterapkan pada seluruh peserta didik SD kelas rendah dan tinggi.

The purpose of this study was to examine (1) the influence of thematic strategies on Life Based Learning on the learning outcomes of elementary school third grade students, (2) the influence of cognitive styles on learning outcomes of elementary school third grade students, and (3) interactions between thematic life based learning strategies and cognitive styles towards the learning outcomes of third grade elementary school students.
This type of research is Quasi a Quivalent Control Group Design (Factorial 2χ2) Experimental Study. The population in this study were class III students in SD Gayungan Subdistrict, Surabaya City, amounting to 256. While the study sample consisted of four elementary schools namely SDN Gayungan II, SDN Dukuh I, SDN Ketintang I, SDN Menanggal 601. Techniques for collecting data using observation and test. The technique of analyzing research data using Anova with the help of SPSS 16.0 software.
The results showed that (1) there was a thematic strategic effect of Life Based Learning on the learning outcomes of third grade elementary school students in Surabaya, (2) there was no influence of cognitive style on learning outcomes of third grade elementary school students in Surabaya, and (3) there was interaction between strategies Thematic Life Based Lrarning and cognitive style towards learning outcomes of third grade elementary school students in Surabaya.
Furthermore, it is suggested (1) the thematic life based learning strategy is suitable to be used in learning third grade elementary school students on the theme of my obligations and rights as citizens with the contents of Civics, Mathematics, Indonesian Language and Cultural Arts and Craft subjects because they can improve student learning outcomes ( 2) cognitive style as the basis for knowing how students think, not related to learning outcomes, it is suggested in the implementation of learning teachers seek other alternatives from the characteristics of students to be taken into consideration in improving learning outcomes and (3) thematic strategies life based learning is able to facilitate cognitive and student learning outcomes so it is very appropriate to be applied to all low and high grade elementary school students.
