This study aimed to develop a Digital Flipbook teaching material integrated with gamification-based interactive
quizzes to improve the Higher Order Thinking
Skills (HOTS) of tenth-grade students at SMKN 2 Surabaya by (1)
describing the development process of the
teaching material, (2) analyzing its feasibility, and
(3) examining its
effectiveness in improving students’ HOTS. This study employed the ADDIE development model, consisting of the
Analysis, Design, Development,
Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The study involved 68 tenth-grade students divided into an experimental class and a control class.
The research instruments
included interview guidelines, expert validation sheets, learning experience questionnaires, and HOTS tests.
Data were analyzed
using descriptive qualitative and quantitative techniques. The findings revealed that the development process resulted in a Digital Flipbook integrated with gamification- based interactive quizzes through the systematic implementation of the ADDIE model. The teaching material
was considered feasible
based on material
expert validation results of
75% and media expert validation results of 96%. Furthermore, the teaching material proved effective in improving
students’ Higher Order Thinking Skills, as indicated
by the average post-test scores
of 88 in the experimental class and 66 in the control class. In addition, the N-Gain score of 0.71 was
categorized as high, indicating that the developed teaching material
is feasible and effective for use in the learning
process.
