A STUDY OF OPTIMISM IN CAREER SELECTION FOR STUDENTS OF SMAN 1 BALONGPANGGANG

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor dan aspek yang memengaruhi optimisme pemilihan karir siswa SMAN 1 Balongpanggang. Pemilihan karir adalah suatu usaha yang dilakukan oleh individu untuk merealisasikan konsep diri. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan adalah studi kasus dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XII yang memiliki optimisme rendah. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah angket dan wawancara. Angket digunakan untuk menentukan subjek penelitian, dan teknik wawancara dilakukan dengan tidak terstruktur untuk memperoleh informasi mengenai faktor dan aspek yang memengaruhi optimisme pemilihan karir siswa. Analisis data penelitian bersifat deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian didapatkan kesimpulan bahwatingkat optimisme pemilihan karir siswa SMAN 1 Balongpanggang rendah, sedang dan tinggi. Aspek optimisme berupa pemanence, pervasiveness, dan personalization yang dimiliki oleh ketiga subjek berbeda-beda, begitu pula dengan faktor-faktor yang memengaruhinya. Peranan konselor dalam memberikan layanan juga membantu dalam menangani pemilihan karir sehingga tingkat optimisme peserta didik meningkat.

This study aims to determine the factors and aspects that influence the optimism of career choice for students at SMAN 1 Balongpanggang. Career selection is an effort made by individuals to relize self-concepts. This type of research is a case study using a qualitative approach. The research subjects were students of class XII who had low optimism. The data collection methods used were questionnaires and interviews. Questionnaires were used to determine research subjects and interview techniques were conducted in an unstructured manner to obtain information on factors and aspects that influenced students optimism in career selection. The research data analysis is descriptive. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the level of optimism in the career selection of students of SMAN 1 Balongpanggang was low, medium an high. The aspects of optimism in the form of permanence, pervasiveness, and personalization are owned by the three different subjects, as well as the factors that influence them. The role of a counselor also helps in dealing with career choices so that the level of optimism of students increases.
