Upcycle Denim With Patchwork Cutting Puzzle And Sashiko Ginkgo On Outerwear

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengolah pakaian bekas denim menjadi produk fashion baru melalui teknik upcycle menggunakan patchwork cutting puzzle dan teknik sashiko  ginkgo pada outerwear. Metode yang digunakan adalah double diamond yang meliputi tahapan discover yakni tahap menganalisis masalah terkait isu pencemaran lingkungan yang disebabkan oleh pembuangan pakaian bekas. Kedua tahap define, mengidentifikasi sumber ide yang tertuang dalam moodboard, desain busana dan motif. Selanjutnya tahap develop, mewujudkan dari perencanaan desain busana akan diwujudkan menjadi sebuah produk fesyen. Yang keempat deliver, melakukan pengambilan data hasil jadi produk sesuai dengan perancangan awal. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara dengan ahli desain busana untuk menilai aspek estetika, teknis, dan kesesuaian desain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan patchwork cutting puzzle mampu menciptakan visual unik dan proporsional, serta teknik sashiko motif ginkgo menambah nilai estetika dan makna filosofis pada outerwear. Hasil jadi outerwear tidak hanya berhasil mengurangi limbah tekstil tetapi juga memiliki nilai jual tinggi dan daya tarik visual. Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa pendekatan upcycle dengan kreativitas desain dapat menjadi solusi berkelanjutan dalam pengolahan limbah tekstil berbahan denim.

This study aims to process used denim clothing into new fashion products through upcycle techniques using patchwork cutting puzzles and sashiko ginkgo techniques on outerwear. The method used is double diamond which includes the discover stage, which is the stage of analyzing problems related to environmental pollution issues caused by disposal of used clothing. Both stages of define, identify the source of ideas contained in the moodboard, fashion design and motifs. Furthermore, the developing stage, realizing from fashion design planning will be realized into a fashion product. The fourth deliver, take data from the product finished product in accordance with the initial design. Data collection was carried out through interviews with fashion design experts to assess the aesthetic, technical, and design aspects of design. The results showed that the application of patchwork cutting puzzle was able to create a unique and proportional visual, as well as the sashiko motif ginkgo technique adding to the aesthetic value and philosophical meaning to the outerwear. Outerwear not only succeeded in reducing textile waste but also has a high selling value and visual attractiveness. This study proves that the upcycle approach with design creativity can be a sustainable solution in the processing of denim textile waste.
